Looking for a Good 1St Haircut in Chicago

My son, now 2, is in dire need of a haircut, but I love his golden curls. I am looking for a place that will give him a pleasant first experience and not hack off all of those curls. I live in Streeterville, but am mobile, so any suggestion is welcome!

I haven't been there, but Snippets mini-cuts on Clybourn, just south of Southport, is highly recommended and always has a steady flow of people. It's definitely a kids hair salon.

HI. There is a really cute place on Clybourn, just south of Webster called Snippets. I think that's the name. They have little race cars for the kids to sit in, very cute......and they give great haircuts and are very patient.

I too, recommend Snippets and recommend them over Kids Snips. The people at Snippets were more patient and knew how to talk to my son to make him comfortable. I also thought it was cleaner. Make an appt. and if not make sure you are the first one there for the walk-ins (i got there 10 min. early before the doors opened) b/c it gets busy...

Hi there,
Snippets on 2154 North Clybourn is great. And Kid Snips a few block farther south on Clybourn is good too. It also has a parking lot which is a plus at times. But for a first cut I'd say Snippets is a wee bit more fun.
Good luck.

Hi P.,
I was really happy with Snippets in NorthBrook Court. There is one on Clybourne, but I didn't have a good experience with them (took too long and made both my kids cry).

My son has beautiful dark curls and the trim he got was perfect. His sides and around the back was trimmed shorter and was left a bit longer on top leaving his curls to show without looking too long.

Irina specializes in boys hair and does a great job. She's precise and quick.

Good luck,
Barbara

I took my daughter to a place called "Snippets" in Chicago. The Address is 2154 N. Clybourn and the 3 is ###-###-####. There were excellent. I was so scared to take her but they were great. You can get a video tape and first lock of hair cut with a little memory card plus the haircut for $25. They have little cars and different seats to sit in and a kids video is playing on a TV right in front of them. I live in Oak Lawn and travel all the way up there for my daughters subsequent hair cuts. I'd recommend getting an appointment, but you don't need one. The whole place is kid friendly so if you have to wait, your little one won't mind.

I strongly recommend Snippets on Clybourn - you need to see Tom. You will need to make an appointment because he is very popular. He has done my daughter's hair for 3 years now (she is 7) and always does a great job - he works really well with little ones as well - good luck!!
