Good Montessori Schools or a Structured Mother's Day Out in the Frisco Area?

I am an in-home day care provider. I am located in McKinney close to 121 and Alma. I have a 2 yr old daughter. We tried going to a day care center. My daughter was sick all the time and had ear infection for 3 months straight. I pulled her out and started taking care of kids in my home March of '05. We just recently moved to McKinney and now we have a playroom just for the kids. I have worked with children from 0-12 yrs for many years. I have nannied, babysat, and worked in our church nursery. Now that I have my own daughter, I want her to be well prepared for kindergarten. We do allot of the things that a center does. We read books, sing songs, color and paint, act like animals and make their sounds, we do puzzles, flash cards for (abc's, colors, numbers, objects) we have allot of fun playing together.
I am CPR and first aid certified and am listed with the state to provide childcare in my home. I love children and want to provide a safe and fun place for them to learn and play.

I can not say enough about how much I LOVE Pebblecreek Montessori. It's not in Frisco, it's in Plano at Spring Creek and Coit and it's awesome. They have a VERY traditional montessori style. The teachers are wonderful and so is the staff. I'm a paranoid over protective kind of mom as I have been a nanny and around the childcare biz for about 7 years and have seen some horrible acts by caregivers. But this place, my instinct has good feelings about. I don't have that "drop my kid off and rush home as soon as possible after work" feeling. I know she's safe there. and happy. and that's the best part.

You should go visit Primrose School of Forest Creek ###-###-####. The program at this school combines both montessori and traditional together in one program. They also offer 2, 3 or 5 day programs! good luck!

P.S. it is family owned and one of the best around

My daughter is almost 2 1/2 and has been to both in-home daycares and is now in a Montessori school called Preston Meadows. WE were fortunate she had excellent experiences in both programs. We also had a couple of experiences that, while not one of the horror stories you hear about in daycare, did concern us. Here is what we learned:
- make sure there is a low ratio of kids to adult, no matter what program. You will usually find this in both inhome day cares and Montessori programs. This will help insure your daughter gets the one on one attention she really needs.
- the kids she interacts with daily are at the same or similar developmental stage. ONe program my daughter was in combined her (18 months) with five and six year olds. While she got to learn some things, she was left behind and didnt get some of her developmental needs met (she was in that program for about 2 months before an opening came available at her current school).
- you need to be comfortable with the program and teachers. Both types of programs can be very good. And there are MANY inhome and montessori programs around. While they do not have a final say, they will have a big impact on your daughter's development. You need to feel confident that the time your daughter is spending away from you is with people who will have a positive impact on her. Also, dont let them tell you how you need to be raising your child (yes, I have encountered that, too, in our short-lived program).

Having said all these things you probably know already ;-), Ive heard good things about Starwood Montessori, West Frisco Montessori, TLC, and Carpe Diem. I would, of course, highly recommend PReston Meadows Montessori. However, I would not recommend New Beginnings Montessori (building a new facility on Legacy and Ohio). The Directress was very cold and when we toured the school we didnt see a single child smile.
