A Leaker

I have a 6 month old that has started rolling over at night and sleeping on her stomach. Because of this she wakes up with a wet front every morning. I've tried Pamper Swaddlers 2 and last night tried the Baby Dry 2 ones. She still was wet. Does any one have any suggestions of what diapers to try? Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So far I've bought some luv's in size 3. The past two nights we have had a little leak. I'll see through this weekend if it work or if we are still leaking. If so I'll try the huggies. I'm leary of Huggies b/c they didn't work for us when she was littler.

Hi H.
I had the same thing happen to me with my first son. I just went up a size. So try to use pampers size 3 and see if that works- it did for me! Good luck (Huggies didn't work for me either)

I agree, we are not big huggies fans, but the overnights do work. We broke down and tried them and love them. I also just recently got the plastic leak proof covers and started putting them on over diapers for the just incase a little leaks thru. wish i had thought to do that way sooner! would have saved us many washings of pajamas! lol

Huggies do a really good job. And sometimes you need to go up a size (even if it's just at night) to cover more territory. Good luck.

We found that LUVS was the best to contain leaks. And definitely try a size up for night time if this problem continues. It worked for us too.

I switched to cloth diapers for this reason. We love them, and we are saving a considerable amount of money as well. They are also much better for your baby and the environment. We use Fuzzi Bunz pocket diapers at night - you can stuff them with as much absorbancy as you need in the right places. We were having leaks every night with two toddlers. Leaks are rare now. If you only need them for nights, you could get by with two diapers with extra inserts and spend about $30-$40. Then you can resell them when you are done and get most of that money back. Otherwise, you can spend an arm and a leg on supreme overnight diapers and then throw them away.

Use Huggies overnights in a size bigger than she usually wears. Used with both my kids and they worked wonders!

My son was doing this too. I also use pampers because they seem to be most absorbent and less likely to leak. I started buying the next size bigger in diapers and that seemed to help, so you might check the weight range for the next size and see if your daughter needs a bigger size. I also make sure to change my son's diaper right before I put him to bed for the night. Other than that I don't know what else to do either. Occasionally, he still wets all over but not as frequently.

Try Huggies Overnight Diapers. They are the only company that makes an extra absorbant diaper for night time (size 3-5). We started using them when my daughter was about the same age and never had another leak. They are also great for times when you'll be in the car for an extended period of time and might not be able to change a diaper right away. You can find them at Target and Babies R Us (if you need size 3 the only place I was ever able to find it was at Babies R Us).

everytime I used pampers they would leak...It might just be me. I used huggies for a while but I really love costco's brand kirkland. I got a membership just because of the diapers. I get 184 size 4 diapers for 36 bucks...so it is a good deal and they are a great quality.

This happened with my oldest when she was a baby and for awhile at night I used the Huggies Overnights. I think they were a little more expensive, but if you only use them at night, you don't go through as many. Good Luck!

I agree with the moms...we've used LUVS since our daughter was a month or two old, and we've never had a problem with leaking. We even joke about how many pounds she loses in the morning because her diapers are SO heavy!

I either use the Huggies overnites (they work very well) or I have found at babies r us they have a package of Diaper Doublers, they look like giant pads that you just lay in a regular diaper and they work well too. There's I think 30 for $2.99

Move up to a large size diaper for night time. This was the best solution that we found for our son. You also do not have to purchase more expensive diapers this way, just a larger size.

Also quick sheet changing tip. layer the sheets & mattress pads so if she does wet in the night all you have to do is quick strip off the top sheet & pad & lay her back down. It is so much easier than changing the entire bed at night.

I know this may sound simple, but have you tried going up a size in diapers? We did this actually on accident. My husband picked up a size 3 when she was a little under 6 months - they were a little big but we never had leaks after that. We use Huggies Natural and just the regular Huggies.

I use Luvs, they are the best I've tried. Also you might want to see if anyone makes padding inserts to help absorb extra wetness. My daughter drinks a bottle before bed and wakes up wet, sometimes I change her in the middle of the night, she seems to wake up if she is really wet. I should probably not give her some much to drink before bedtime as well.

We use Huggies Snug & Dry at night and have never had any leaks with them. I hate using them during the day because they're too absorbant and it gets hard to tell when my daughter is wet, so for daytime we use Target diapers. But at night when she sleeps 12 hours, the Huggies are great!

This may sound simple, but try the next size larger diaper so it goes up higher on her stomach.

I also had my best luck with Huggies Supreme for leakage. I also had four "healthy size" babies and they seemed to work a bit better for us.

I agree w/ April. I use cloth, no I'm not some grass skirt wearing momma. They just work great! I spent about $300 upfront and never have to buy another diaper again. I have one size pocket diapers. They go on just like disosables, velcro, no pins or any old fashioned stuff like that. You stuff them with inserts as many as you need to acheive the absorbancy you need. I use bamboo inserts because the are super absorbant and super thin! $300 and 2 babies have been diapered. I was spend $60-$80 a month on disposables. I thought washing them would be really gross, but it is really not bad at all. Except you do have 1 extra load of laundry to do every other day. I know, not the answer you were probably looking for but with the economy the way it is I thought other moms might like to start thinking about more affordable diapers that work, even over night!

My daughter also sleeps on her stomach. I was using pampers size 2 and was having the same issue pretty often. I then switched to Luvs, cheaper price, and found that I needed a size larger diaper in the conversion and that Luvs has more of a plastic cover versus Pampers more clothlike one. Luvs finally has a stretch sides like papmpers. Luvs seems to hold the moisture "in" more with the plastic like covering. I did have a leak this morning after being switched for 3 months. First one! Give it a shot. Size larger and cheaper. Can't hurt to try.

To repeat some of the other responses...we went up a size and used Huggies overnights. She wore Pampers during the day. The other suggestion I have that I can't believe no one posted already is to fold over the front of the diaper! Regardless of the diaper she was in at night, we would fold the top of the front over toward her belly about a 1/2" to an 1" (to right about where the velcro part would start) then you place the tabs fairly tight and right in line with the top edge of the diaper. That helped create a little "pocket" or extra barrier for the leaks. It helped us A LOT!

I went up a size at night if there were leaks, just like the mothers below said.

If you tried that then try a different brand, I started with pampers but switched to huggies after a few months. Never tried LUVS, that I can remember, but others seem to love them.
