Looking for Advice on Infant Skincare

My 5 month old daughter is very chubby and has very red, chaffed skin on the back of her knees. I'm sure it's because her legs are so chubby, but I can't find anything that helps it. I've tried Aquaphor, Vaseline, A&D, baby oil - nothing works. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!!

The Beauty Experiment - Would You Do This?

There was a woman today on Good Morning America that went one year without wearing makeup. She wanted to find out "what a man would do" - deodorant, MAYBE some gel, no jewlery, etc. and found that she loved it. but "society" didn't handle it too well. I can go either way - I don't wear a ton of make-up - mascara nor foundation. I MIGHT wear eye shadow when I meet candidates, but overall, I use the KISS (Keep It Simple Silly) method. The segment found that women spend up to $15K for beauty treatments during the year...ouch...that's a...

Yeast Infection in 9 Month Old?

My little girl always seems to be red in the diaper area, both inside her privates and on the outer lip area. Is there any cream I should be using to help reduce the irritation? Could it be reoccurring yeast infections? How can I tell the difference? I do notice that when I'm changing her diaper or she's taking a bath, she'll scratch the area with her hands (not sure if she's exploring her girly parts or if they truly itch). We go to the doc. for her 9 month check up soon, so I'll be asking more about it then. But for now, I thought I...

What Products to Use for an Infant Who Has a Rash

Hi I was wondering what products many of you recommend for an infant (2 month old) who has a very bad sandpaper like rash all over her body. Her back is actually peeling today since her skin has been so dry. I did take her to her Pediatrician who ruled out any illness. He stated it may be sensitive skin or she may be having a reaction to a food that I am eating as she also has very bad reflux along with it. I use dreft detergent on all clothes/linens that come into contact with her. I use Eucerin on her skin which does seem to help a...

Best Eczema Treatment

My son has always had bad skin. He's 20 months now and has a large circle on his left cheek that has really bad eczema (nothing anywhere else). We've been through the standard line up (Aloe, Aveeno, prescriptions, etc) and nothing seems to work. I'm waiting for the dr to call me back and hopefully prescribe a new medication but has anyone had any luck with any over the counter creams / lotions?

Looking for Pthalate Free Baby Wash and Lotions!

There are a lot of products out there that are "natural" or "organic." Many of these products don't say if they are pthalate free or not. I want some products that definitely state this!! I know about Burt's Bees. The wash is OK... but I really don't like the lotions. I've tried many, even the adult lotions and creams. I want something nice smelling, or if that isn't possible.. unscented. Does anyone know of any other products?

What to Add/leave off Baby Registry?

Hi - I am wondering what items other Moms have put on their Baby Registry, and what items you would leave off? Obviously, leave off clothes, but is there anything you wished you had put on that you didn't, or vice versa? Also, when it comes to things like bottles, should I register for a "variety" pack of sorts? Or, should I research basically everything in advance before putting it on the list? I've started researching the bigger items, strollers, high chairs, diaper genie, etc. so I can put on the items that have the best features or have...

Dog Loosing Hair?

Hi Moms, I'm hoping that someone out there is a vet or has knowledge of dogs and can help. My 6 year old American Bulldog has recently started loosing his hair in patches. It started off looking like bug bite bumps and under the hair were scales that looked similar to a childs cradle cap. The fur was coming off with the scales when I rubed at them. He is not scratching any of the area which is only on his sides by his ribs. I took him to the vet about two months ago and he had a urinary tract infection that took two rounds of...

Natural Remedies for Red, Itchy Rash

My 21 month old boy has this large red rash on his bum/lower back. It started out small and didn't bother him and it was getting better but just this morning I got him out of bed and it is much worse and he is itching it now. The red areas are slightly raised and some areas are peeling. We are letting him run around with out his diaper as much as possible and we use Seventh Generation diapers so I know it isn't a sensitivity to his diaper. So, far we have just been using Earth's Best diaper rash onitment. I am wondering if any one has...

Allergic Reaction to Cephalexin

To make a long story short...my otherwise very healthy 4 y/o was prescribed cephalexin (and also at the same time griseofulvin) last week on Thursday. In hindsight, after the first dose I noticed some bumps on his arm and a pink patch on his cheek. But I did not think anything of it. After the 2nd dose all of a sudden I noticed crazy rashes all over his body-face, arms, legs, back, neck, ears (oh, his poor ears). I stopped the meds and took him in to the weekend clinic on Saturday-Dr. thinks is allergic reaction to the cephalexin (as...

Hello ladies, I am at the end of my rope trying to fix my skin problem. On my face I have 5 trouble spots. Two above my mouth to the left and right a bit and two below my mouth to the left and right a bit. The last one has just flared up a lot!!! It is under my left eye and is all red and puffy. They all started as dry skin and have become red and yucky with time. Sometimes they have dry flakes on them and sometimes not. Sometimes they do get better too. I have started washing my face once a day (with Neutrogena pore refining cleanser) ...

2 Questions: Naps and Bedtime

My son will be 4 months old in 2 days. My first question is about napping. This kid doesn't like to sleep... I have days where he might take a nap and others where he may take a catnap or 2 (like 15 mins. or so) and other days, he won't nap at all. I know he gets tired but he fights it. He doesn't have a routine, plus he likes to be held in order to fall asleep. The minute you put him down, 80% of the time he wakes right up and that's the end of the nap. Sometimes myself or my mom will hold him while he naps, but I can't do that all the...
