I would like to enroll my soon to be 4 year old son into the VPK program. I do not know who to contact to find out more information. Such as, How many days/months does the program run? How many hours per-day would my son participate? Who is a good provider to enroll with? What are the costs or income qualifications? Etc. I truly would appreciate any information that anyone can provide me with!!

What can I do next?

That website has many of the answers you are looking for. I had my son enrolled last year. It is FREE no matter what your income is. During the school year most places do 3 hours a day 5 days a week for the entire school year (Aug. to May) and then during the summer it is 6 hours a day 5 days a week (I believe). To find a place participating you can find a list on the site I gave you - at least there was one last time I checked (my son is in K now, so it was last year) or you can just get out the phone book and call around. They will tell you if they participate and set up an appt with you to come see the class, etc.

I had both my children in VPK for the past two years. I went to YFA at 6740 Commerce Ave. Port Richey to enroll them. Try www.vpkflorida.org The first year you were able to do it online and then they sent you a packet that you could fill out and bring to them. The second year you had to go down and fill out the paperwork. You need ID, a birth certificate and medical records, maybe proof of residence. They'll give you a list of providers that you can choose from and you need to contact the provider to make sure there is room in the program. My kids both went to Wee Kids in New Port Richey. It's a great program. Each provider has their own hours. Wee Kids was 9-12 M-F. It runs on the Pasco County schools calendar.

Hi! My dauther went to vpk last year. She went to Just Kidz preschool. You can contact children and family services for other centers who are on the list. It was only a half day but m-f. My dauther really had a great time. Good luck!!
