I am an OB nurse, so have seen this in our triage quite often. A pregnancy in the tube cannot develope - as it gets larger, it will cause the tube to rupture, and you can then hemorrhage. There's no way to move it, or to prevent it. I'm sure you have already had an ultrasound, otherwise they wouldn't suspect an ectopic. You doctor is not playing God, they wouldn't do that, it's unethical. I work with about 30 different doctors, and none of them would ever do that to a patient. They don't decide for you if your done having kids. I've seen young girls having baby after baby with no jobs, no support, etc., and the doctors treat them just the same as any other patient. You would not be having an abortion - the pregnancy wouldn't have a chance to develope. The methotrexate is usually used in cancer treatment - it affects fast growing cells, which is what a pregancy is at this point. Sometimes when you go in and it's an early pregnancy, they just can't see it yet. So, if they can't see anything inside the uterus and your HCG is elevated, they assume that it could be in the tube. That's why they repeat the HCG - with an ectopic it won't rise as fast as a normally developing fetus. I have seen it happen where the woman comes back, her levels rise normally, and they find out that she wasn't as far pregnant as they thought she was. Wait until you have your lab repeated. There is nothing that you can do to change anything. The methotrexate is a better treatment than surgery - especially if the tube ruptures and it becomes an emergency. You want to be there for your kids. Please don't feel as if you're killing your baby, you're not.
Good Luck~
