My husband saw a video on the Big Green Egg and just loved it so now we have one! We will share cooking duties! Any tips or ideas on cooking on one?? any favorite recipes?? anything I should watch out for?? Somehow I am not quite as excited about it as he is but I want to be able to use it correctly and get the most out of it. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

He bought it, he owns it! :p

We have one but it is my husband's toy.

Read the instructions and don't do anything complicated until you learn how to regulate the temperature. If you don't put enough lump charcoal in it you won't keep the temp up long enough, too much it gets too hot regardless of the open or closed vents.

Other than that it is pretty straight forward.

Practice! Practice! Practice! It takes trial & error to get the temps right but once you've got it the food is AMAZING! And don't stop with burgers and steaks like on a traditional grill. This baby is much more versatile. We make meatloaf, pizza, Mac-n-cheese, veggies, roasts, turkeys, pork, potatoes and pizzas (just to name a few). Even made a killer Paella on it. Oh, and one final thought. The type of lump charcoal you use makes a difference. The stuff you get at SAMS club sparks a lot. We use the lump that comes in a yellow bag from Academy Sports. Watch near the end of the summer for specials and you can stock up on it for winter since its a seasonal item. My hubby does the grilling mostly but our BGE has almost replaced our indoor oven!
