Hi Chritina,

I am not a Mom that brings baby in bed with me...in the end, it becomes harder on you to let baby sleep in her own room. it worked with my 9 year old, so now with my 9 month old I do the same thing...My husband works early, so when she would wake up for her middle of the night feeding I would get up and feed her in the living room then tried to put her back in her basinette when she was still awake...drowsy, but not asleep...that way she got used to having to put herself to sleep. I kept her in her basinette in my room until she was 7 months old..(she's a petite baby, so I was lucky to have her fit in it that long) But she really didn't have to be in my room all that time. She was used to putting herself to sleep, it was me that didn't want her to leave my room. lol... :) I started putting her for her naps in her crib, then putting her to sleep in the crib and moving her to the basinette when i would go to sleep...then finally I left her in her crib all night... :(.... Not before I got a video monitor!!! haha...I try to always keep in mind when making these kid of decisions, baby is usually ready before you are... :)

Hope my long winded response helps..haha

:)

That is such a hard question. It is totally dependent on you. I had such a hard time moving my son to his crib. He was 5 months old when I moved him, but I had to as he was growing out of his bassinet. The first night I didn't sleep a wink. I was up every hour making sure he was ok. Now, if I put him in our bed he gets mad.

I have a friend that the baby couldn't sleep because of her husband's snoring that they had to put the baby in the crib at two weeks old.

Good Luck to you and just remember, when you are ready is when the baby should go in the crib.

I think 3-4 months is the ideal age to move them to a crib. The baby will be at the age (or almost) where they may be able to sleep through the night. If you wait any longer they become more aware of their surroudings and it makes it a lot harder. I think it is important at around 3 months to kids on a nap and feeding schedule, because it will be easier later.

My son is 6 months, and just last week I started him in his own room. I wish I would have done it way sooner. He just knows whats going on now. The earlier the better, I think its a better transition for the baby also, when they cant remember as much. My son wakes up all the time now were having a really rough time. I'd start now by just having him nap in his own room for a little while then at night. Good luck

My little boy is 4 months old and he sleeps in our bed at night and in his crib (in our room) during day naps. I recently started putting him in his crib after his 2 or 3 am feedind and find that he sleeps really well in there. A sleep consultant once told me that babies need their own space. Its harder for me, because we both want him in bed with us, but I think he truly will sleep better in a crib. Also, putting him in his own room may be good advice, because I usually lay there awake for 30-60 minutes listening to all his baby sounds. I guess my point is, we are transitioning him slowly because its working for us.

This is a tough one. James was 6 months when we moved him to his crib and we are still transtioning at 8 months. For us it is a slow process because i can just listen to him cry. sooner is probably better. there is less of a chace that you have formed a habit that she rembers. when she wakes. as long as you still respond to her quickly when she crys she probably won't know the differcene. It is ultmatly what is best for your family that you should go off of.
Good Luck

I have heard around 3 months is good, my cousin has 6 boys and she says she moves them into a crib at about 3 months.
I myself have a 10 month old who refuses to sleep anywhere else but OUR bed, he's been doing this since he was 6 weeks old. So I would not get into the habit of letting your baby sleep in your bed, because you'll never get them out,Im hoping I dont end up with a 3year old in my bed, good luck.

The sooner the better! You'll find that as babies get older, they start getting ideas about what they will and won't do. =) Also you may find that with your baby in another room, you and she will wake up less frequently, so you'll both get better sleep. (Unless you live in a palatial mansion, trust me, you'll hear her if she cries!)

Meanwhile, if she's still waking up several times during the night, you may want to check out a copy of "On Becoming BabyWise." Lots of good suggestions in there about how to get your baby to sleep through the night. Worked great for me! Best of luck to you!

Whenever you are ready! At this age it is primarily for convenience to have them right by your side at night. One word though if you are planning to continue to nurse, get a good rocking chair! Otherwise she will still end up in your bed <grin>.

whatever makes you happy, although while they're still waking up a bunch it's so much easier to have her right there.

We had our son in a cosleeper in our room until he outgrew it around 5 months. Then he started sleeping in his crib for his first long stretch of sleep. I would nurse him to sleep then lay him in his crib. He is now 11 months old and we're still doing the same thing...nursing to sleep, then going in the crib for a while. When he wakes up in the middle of the night (we never did cry it out so he's still not sleeping thru the night)I either rock him back to sleep if I have the energy, or he just comes in bed with us until morning. All three of us enjoy having that cuddle time in the morning. I don't think there's a right or wrong answer here. Just do whatever allows everyone to get the most sleep!
