My 4 month old just broke his two bottom teeth thru. My doctor said it was ok to use baby advil and teething gels to lessen the pain for him. I think it is ok if used lightly and it takes the pain away. He is better now that they have come thru, but he was very fussy for awhile. It really helped him to feel better. Get a secound opinion, it's not fair she has to suffer cause she is the head of her class in the teeth development department! Cold washcloths to suck on also help.

My little boy started at the same time and he has been teething non stop since. Good Luck! You should be able to use tylenol/Ibuprofen (alternate them for better pain coverage) and you can also roll up wash cloths and freeze them for her to chew on.

Dear A.,

What I used on my Grandchildren was Tylenol....rub a little on the gums and that will soothe her. Do this every 4-6 hours it works wonders. Toothing medicine stops the teeth from coming in on time.

Try Hyland's teething tablets. They are all-natural and can be dissolved in any drink you give your daughter. They have chamomile in them to help with relaxation. They can be found in either the baby section or vitamin section of most big stores. I buy them at Walmart. If you don't want to use them try a cold washclothe. I used the tablets the entire time my 21 mth was teething which was when he was from 8-16 mths. They won't hurt your baby and you really can't overdose on them. I would put 2-3 in a drink in morning, afternoon and night. They are safe for even a little one as young as yours.

Well, I don't see any reason why your little on couldn't have tylenol!! My ped has always let us give them AT LEAST that....don't want to see them suffer :( Also, there is Hylands's Teething Tablets. They are 100% natural, so I wouldn't see why your baby could take them! I hope you find something to help!!!

Hello A.,

My name is P. and I am new to this sight. I just read your posting regarding teething. I feel your pain, my daughter is 5 months old and is teething as well. Our pediatrician recommended frozen wash cloths over teething rings. I found this works really well. She also told us to give our daughter motrin for the pain. Which you give every 8 hours. I try to wait till night time to give her the Motrin but when she is clawing at her mouth and is real fussy I will give it to her sooner. The wash cloths are wonderful,it helps cool down their little gums and absorb the drool at that same time.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck,
P.

Don't think I'm crazy, but my grandmother has always dipped her finger in whiskey and rubbed it on all the little ones gums when they were teething. A family friend who is a doctor assured my family that it is safe, although not conventional. Also, try getting a small washcloth wet w/ cold water and letting her suck/chew on it. My son loves it and he's teething right now.

Four months is young to be teething but my niece is four months and is also teething. There is a thing called teething tablets. they are little tablets that dissolve in your mouth instantly. 100% homeopathic. I would try them. They are sold anywhere practically. I used them on my two year old when she was cutting teeth and they worked. The bottle doesn't have any ages on it. They are right in with like the orajel and stuff. Hope that was some help for you.

A.,
I'm new to this, but i'll tell you what I did. My son just turned one, and he was teething also at 4 months. I gave him half the dose of tylenol or motrin and it seemed to help. I didn't give him some orajel, but only when he seemed to be really bad. I talked to my doctor and she said that it was normal, and every baby is different. He got his first 2 teeth at 5 months old. If she doesn't seem to be in pain, then i would let her chew...hope this helps. and one more thing my grandmother taught me....frozen carrots they can chew on...but they have to be frozen...it may scare you, but my old school grandma swore by it. Good luck.

My son teethed early too, we teased him that he was just growing teeth to eat steak (he is a meat and potatoes man). Anyway, I found a feeder at babies r us it is a mesh net with a handle that screws on, there is another one that the handle stays connected but I found that you can't clean the net as well as the one that completely detaches besides you can throw away nets that are used to much. You can put ANYTHING in these feeders like bitter biscuts, frozen bananas, ice, frozen grapes (if the peds said it is okay for her to eat these things. But you don't have to worry about her getting a huge chunk and choking. The vibrating teether works great too. Good luck!

My son teethed early too. Orajel doesn't really work anyway! You can try tylenol if it gets really bad (talk to your Dr. about the dose). I gave my son all fruit popsicles to suck on-- they helped numb the area. Pedialite makes some too. I also gave him a really cold washcloth to chew on.

I feel your pain! My 8 month old has had 8 teeth for at least 6 weeks now and I'm pretty sure his first molars are causing him pain now. He got the first ones just before 4 months. Cold wash cloths are great. Anything cold to chew on is great! My son also has a star teether that vibrates when he bites on it. Walmart has them, I think. He seems to like it because it massages the gums. Don't forget a small dose of tylenol to help her sleep better. Good luck...you'll make it!

Your child is not too young for Tylenol. My son started teething at three months. I alternated between giving him Tylenol and Motrin. I usually would give him Tylenol during the day and Motrin at night. Motrin lasts longer. Another thing that worked good was a wooden spoon to chew on. Hang in there and good luck.

My daughter is 5 months old and I've been thinking she is starting to teeth as well, everyone who I have talked to said that gels and stuff are pointless because it will get washed away. Honestly the best remedy I've heard is frozen waffles, they are not too hard, they soften as baby sucks on them and have built in drool cups, don't put any toys in the freezer because doctors have said that when they freeze they are too hard. Good luck with everything!
