We have had a Super walmart in my area for awhile. I am not a rock solid fan of the mega store. But it has come in handy when I cant afford to hit up our Fred meyer/Kroger store. The target in our mall is getting renovated into a Super target. I am curious If you have shopped at both which one do you like better?? How is the produce at the Target?? Was the selection a good comparison to that or the Super Walmarts?? I am excited to get to try it out..just wanted to see some thoughts either way.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I did just find out how amazing using the target brand coupons are along with my manufactures one!! they have been a blessing..especially on things like diapers and wipes.

Target is superior with quality of products and overall store.

I avoid any Walmart and Sams at any costs due to their business practices. Just google them...it's all over business news and documentaries have been made of it as well...... not only do they discriminate they are not and ethical company...

A "Kitchen Aid" mixer at Walmart is not the same "Kitchen Aid" mixer at Target. They are horrid to their suppliers to keep the prices low.

You get what you pay for.

I dread Wal*Mart but use them only if I am looking for a larger item that I can find at a good price. Otherwise I am SuperTarget all the way! I shop there once a week... and then some! They are cleaner, better practices, better private label (Archer Farms/Up and Up).

I LOVE Super Target. I love the reg Targets too tho and that is probably why I like the Super ones even more. I also like Target b/c you can print their online coupons and combine with manufacture coupons.

Good luck

Walmart has better selection for food/grocery items... But Target has better clothes! lol. (Target produce, at least at our store, is NOT impressive at all.)

I would scope out both stores... I will usually go to the Walmart that's further away because it has better produce... but the Walmart that's closer has a better selection of other groceries. (they are both super walmarts, but the closer one is bigger... just has a crappy produce section.) I have NEVER been impressed with Target's grocery selection, but I like shopping for 'stuff' there. (baby stuff, clothes, etc.)

I prefer Target over Walmart, however, Walmart usually has the better prices overall. Target has really good deals on their end caps, you have to look for them or be a regular shopper there to notice when items do go on sale. Not too long ago I got my son a $5 pair of tennis shoes that were $20.00 at one time, they were the only ones in his size and 75% off.. I got pretty lucky that day. I think Target has better customer service, hires more people so you aren't in line waiting forever, cleaner of course...

I prefer Target in all ways to a Walmart around here, and for the grocery stuff, I LOVE the Archer Farms (Targets brand) stuff. They have alot of interesting flavors (like pasta sauces and tortilla chips & salsa and some of their organic packaged things). I have never been disapointed with anything of their brand name foods I have purchased, with both quality and flavor.

Recently,, here in the Twin Cities metro area, a magazine (can't recall what one, but a business sort of one) did some reports on local TV channel 11 about best bargains..and Target for groceries was the best bargain over Walmart, Cub/Rainbow and Sams Club/Costco (those were grouped together like I did them)..not by a high margin, but enough to be #1.

My only problem is the variety and not carrying certain brands I do like...but for example this weekend..I did my normal bulk shopping at Sams Club (which was #2 on this listing...IF you shop regularly and use the bulk items...I do since I do home childcare, but am still careful what I buy that nothing goes to waste), but after Sam's...I went to Target to get a few Target brand items I needed (bottle liners for infants in care, and some medicines I buy Targets generic brand of)...and in the end, bought all the rest of my groceries there as well..and its not even a full Market store! Saved me the stop at Cub. All of these stores...and multiple locations of them all.. are within 10-15 miles of my home...very metro/suburban area and not lacking in stores to shop at.

So for me..Target , hands down, every time!

The super Target by me is ok but I still prefer the grocery or farms market. The super walmart by me is also just ok, most of the time fruits & veggies are a hit or miss. For both everything else is good (eggs, milk, bread, pantry items). I do like some of the target brand items better then the walmart brand items, walmart prodcuts tend to be "cheaply" made where as the same product say at target or kohls cost a little more but seem to be of a better quality.

For me if I need that one-stop shop due to time I just hit whatever is closest along my driving patern that day.

Target is cheaper than wal mart on some items - check out the article below.

I prefer Target for many reasons, too many to list here. Main reason is for ease of shopping - I can get done in half the time at Target. I prefer produce from a Farmer's market but obviously that is not always available.

Target food is more expensive and there is far less variety. On the upside, it's very compact. You can swing through the grocery section and grab a few things. Whereas Super WalMart is so big and spreadout. If you need a tomato and some yogurt you have to walk back and forth across the entire store. And then stand in a horrendous line!

I do almost all of our shopping at Super Target. I have never been a fan of Walmart. Besides the coupon deals at Target, if you get their credit card, you get 5% off of EVERY purchase!

The reason why Walmart gets a bad rap is because the Unions & media love to diminish them for the sole purpose that they are not Unionized. If you want to compare business practices then do it but do it fairly, and I bet you will find that Walmart paves the way for good ethics (I won't go into details like I want to).

The Walmart stores are not as 'hip' as Target stores, but if I m going to teach my kids that you don't always have to shop at the cool looking stores, then I need to walk the walk. Sometimes I find better produce at Target and other times it's better at Walmart. And certain items are always cheaper at Target but other items are cheaper at Walmart. I love both stores equally, but I tend to shop at walmart more often for the sole purpose that the media has people brainwashed that Target is better. IMO

We literally have a super Walmart right across the street from a super Target and I will drive past Walmart every time!
At least between these 2 stores, Target is much cleaner and the products all seem to be of better quality. Target does let you use one of their coupons with a manufacture coupon and since I also have a Target Visa, I get an additional 5% off. Plus then 1% goes back to my kids school.
I also agree with one of the posters that Walmart's labor practices are notoriously discriminating not to mention how to go into these little rural areas and eventually run out all of your mom and pop, locally owned businesses. Which I'm sure Target would too, but so far Target doesn't target the small towns.

I hate walmart. We have a super Target and the produce is fine. The other grocery items are great! The Archer Farms stuff is awesome. And they have good coupons.
To the person who says we are brain washed... you only have to walk in to the Walmart or the Target in out town to know why Walmart sucks. It is dirty disorganized disgusting place full of high fructose corn syrup and white bread. YUCK
