So What Is a Good Boy's Underwear w/Covered Elastic Waistband?

My son is 7 almost 8.
Got him a Hanes covered waistband brief, and its scratchy and not soft and he always has to pull it in the rear area because it rides up. The cut of the underwear is weird.
I hate to keep buying different brands and then waste money. Ya never know how comfortable it is or not, until your son tries it on!

Anyway, just looking for what you or your son thinks is comfy/soft/and has a non-irritating waistband.
And though his current underwear is tight, he keeps wearing it because it is comfy soft cotton with a covered waistband. But this is a little boy, underwear. LOL

Can't believe it is so hard to find a comfy covered waistband boys underwear with nice cotton that is not paper thin fabric.
And no, he does not like boxers.

TIA!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

*I just looked at the Gymboree website and they have some boys underwear that is on sale for $1.99, and free shipping apparently for orders under $12.99 Today only!

Are the Gymboree and Hanna Anderson underwear, true to size?
My son is almost 8. So a medium would be fine?
He is tall for his age and not thin but not big either.

I think maybe, I will look on E-bay, and buy one of each brand in a medium size.
Then see which one my son likes per comfort and size and quality.

Hanna Anderson is the best, hands down. Kind of expensive but worth it. Just stay on top of the laundry and you won't have to buy too many. They actually get BETTER with repeated washings!

DS is 8. He has worn Gymboree undies since potty training at age 2. We have had no complaints. They do come in solids if your son doesn't like patterns.

ETA - my son is 52" and 70 lbs and is wearing the size 7/8 without a problem. I think you should be fine with that size. We went to the 7/8 when he turned 7 (he is 8-1/2 now). The next size up is 10/12 which look huge. The reason we chose Gymbo over Hanna was the cost. I look in the cheapo bin during sales and usually pick up his undies for $2 or less a pair. I can do laundry way way way less frequently since he has probably 15-20 pairs. If he had 6 pairs, we couldn't ever go on vacation without having to wash undies in a hotel sink. Not going to happen.

Gymboree has nice briefs. They will have a 2-5 dollar bin. I just dig and pre-buy based on available sizes.

All Jockey underwear men's, women's, kid's have a covered waistband and leg holes. It might be worth a try.

Hanna Andersson has great kids unders. We've been getting those for our son because they wear exceptionally well. Kiddo had his 'small' size for three years until they finally started getting holes in them! They are super soft too.

We made six pair last that long. Not bad and totally worth what you pay up front... you get a LOT of wear out of them. :)

My son has always worn fruit of the loom cotton boxer briefs (this helps with chaffing) but they also sell just a brief.. I do love the cotton covered waistband, he's also worn cherokee brand.... both have worked out well. although, I do like the fruit of loom best..

City threads are soft no itchy waistband. They run small. I order up one size. I order from their site or amazon.
