We are moving to the Edmond area this summer. My boys are in a Mother's Day Out program now and just love it. I would like to find one in the Edmond area too. I teach my sons pre-school at home but know they need to be around other children as well. One of the ways we have done this is through MDO. If you know of any good programs, please send some information my way. Thank you!!

What can I do next?

My children are in a MDO program called Sonshine school. They absolutelly love it. I love the teachers and the facility as well. I know there are many other great MDO programs around town though. I know you will love Edmond! Good luck in your search.

After moving to Edmond from Dallas almost 2 years ago, I had to do my research for MDO/Preschool too. After hearing many positive things, being impressed with their website, then checking it out in person, we chose First United Methodist Church. I read another post recommending it and everything Amy said is right on target. My boys love it! Good luck.

Edmond has many wonderful MDO programs. As you mention being involved in church, once you find a church home, you may find that they offer a MDO program which makes it quite convenient. Also Edmond is quite spread out and traffic can be a pain. Once you select a home, I'll bet you can find a quality program within a couple miles of your home.

Edmond also offers PreK through the public school system. It is a half-day program (2 1/2 hours either AM or PM). It is quite popular and there are not always enough openings for everyone that wants in. Students often attend at their local elementary, but some classes are taught at day care centers. If you are interested, I would contact Edmond Public School (look online) and get your paperwork turned in by the deadline (coming up in March or April). If you changed your mind later, you could always give up your slots to someone on the waiting list, but if you sign up late it is hard to get in.

Hi J.,
I have a 7 yr old girl, 5 yr old boy, and 3 yr old girl twins. They have all attended Southern Hills Child Development Center based out of the Southern Hills Christian Church. They have all loved it! The teachers are great and very caring. The older kids, I think 3 and up, have chapel. They have a learning thru play curriculum. I think enrollment has already started and it fills up quick! Their phone number is ###-###-####.
Another alternative I don't think I saw mentioned yet is Peace Lutheran. I know several families whose kids have gone there and they loved it. God bless and welcome to Edmond!!

In Edmond there is a great MDO, preschool, and preK program. It is the Christian Learning Center at Henderson Hills Baptist Church. In the preschool and preK they have certified teachers and the tuition is very reasonable.

J., I highly recommend Edmond's First United Methodist Church MDO/Preschool program. The teachers and staff are all so sweet, caring, and friendly! Plus, I like that they provide Christian instruction without it being overbearing ;-). Website: www.fumcpreschoolmdo.com. Contact the Director, Glennis Peterman at ###-###-####. My now 5 year old son has been going there since we moved to Edmond almost 3 years ago. FUMC has been a lifesaver for us! He started out in MDO and then preschool and now Pre-K. He even goes to their Extended Enrichment, which is another great program! I'd love to meet you for coffee when you come to town! Good luck with your move! You'll love Edmond! ~A. (____@____.com)
