Seeking Honest Advice on Jogging Strollers

This may not be helpful, because the stroller I recommend isn't one of your current choices. I researched joggers for months and planned to spend around $200 too. What I found was the joggers that were in that range were heavy and the padding in the seat was very minimal with hard plastic beneath it. I wanted to see the stroller in person before I bought it and had a hard time finding the Schwinn. I finally found one at a Burlington coat factory and it was falling apart. After much checking and shopping I finally bought the Bob Revolution and although it was 150 more than I wanted to spend it has been worth every penny. The front wheel locks and unlocks and it is so light, 22 lbs, that I can load it and take it everywhere. It was so worth the extra money for me. I actually found it at Tot to Teen for the cheapest price I only have the single, but my cousin has the double and uses it everywhere. She lives downtown Chicago and doesn't leave home without it. I don't have any advice on strollers themselves (I would love a double jogger! we only have a double side by side for walking though, sigh...) but I will say: be sure to check out craigslist for your search. If you search long and hard enough, you might find a fancy one in your price range. Consignment shops (Once Upon a Child, others) and Mom-to-Mom sales might help too.

We had a jogging stroller in Japan (made by a Japanese brand) that we left there. Stupid mistake. When we got here I really wished I had brought it.

I did lots of research, but didn't want to spend too much either. I read tons of reviews and stopped a couple of people to ask them how they liked theirs.

I finally bought the InStep Safari. I love it! I bought it on ebay through a company called VMInnovations. It is listed now for $119.00 with free shipping. It came with a kid's tray and a carseat adapter that you can snap on. I didn't think I would would use the carseat adapter, but that has been great! It also comes with a mosquito net. It has a decent basket underneath and a nice pocket on the back of the seat (where I keep the mosquito net). It also has a parent tray.

It steers easily and has a head cushion and padded covers for the shoulder harness. It folds and unfolds really easily. The only thing I have found is that the front wheel got a bit loose on mine, so it wobbled. All I had to do was take off the black cover and tighten it just a bit. No big deal.

I love it and would highly recommend it.

As far as double strollers go, I have a PegPerego one that I bought off of craigslist. It's okay. The wheels don't turn as easily, which is one reason I really wanted a jogging stroller. I debated about whether or not to get a single jogging stroller or a double and decided on a single for a few reasons. A double is a lot bulkier and would not fit in the car as well. It is much wider. I feel that the cheaper ones with just one wheel in the front are not quite as stable as the more expensive ones that have four wheels.

I have 3 kids ages 5, 2 1/2, and 5 months. I have an Ergobaby carrier for my baby. What I usually do if we're out for the day is the 5-year-old walks the whole time. The 2 1/2 year old starts out walking. If she is very tired towards the end, I will put the baby in the Ergobaby carrier and let her ride in the stroller. Oftentimes, she will also sit on the black front wheel cover, facing backwards and holding onto the kid's tray.

I do think you get what you pay for in terms of buying a stroller. We have a Bob revolution and Love it. It is more expensive but worth it in my opinion. I have used the baby trend and some others when pushing other kids around ( friends) and always find myself thankful I do not have those stollers... However, with that being said, you might not know what your missing if you never try this stroller out to begin with and may be plenty happy with any if your other choices. Good luck!

I have the Baby Trend Velocity and love it. It is a bit heavy, but I think all joggers are heavy. It is really smooth to steer and had the swivel wheel with locking capability. My daughter also loves it. It retails for around $160, but it is sold at Babies R Us and you can use the 20% off coupon. I don't know anything about double joggers. I don't think I would be a fan because they are very wide and can be very heavy. You have to figure between the weight of the double stroller and two kids, you will be pushing at least 70 lbs and I know I couldn't do it running.

I had a Baby Trend Expedition jogging stroller that I loved. I just sold it a few months ago because my son was born and I wouldn't really use it anymore, or so I thought, and it killed me to do it! I used that stroller for everything. It was so smooth and so easy to use and it had great storage and a swivel front wheel. I wish I would have kept it because we bought a used Jeep double umbrella stroller that I HATE, so I always use my Graco stroller with my son and let my daughter walk. I wish I would have sold the Graco and kept the jogging stroller or got one of the sit and stand ones. I can't give advice on a double jogging stroller. I'm not sure if I would ever buy a side by side double stroller again because it is always too wide, especially in stores. That's why I hate the double umbrella stroller. If you feel like you must do a side by side double then definitely get a jogging one. So much easier to push around.
