We are moving to the Newbury Park/Thousand Oaks area in about a month. I am in need of finding a pediatrician for my daughters aged 4 and 1 year. I'm hoping to find a doctor who stays up to date on the latest research, is taking new patients, the wait times aren't terrible, and is likeable! I know a ton to ask for! Anybody have any suggestions??
Thanks!

yes, Dr. Gerald Berkman ###-###-####. He is all of those things and more, he's located in Westlake Village. He has wonderful staff, I've never waited more than 10 minutes and ususally can get same day appointments when needed. He's sooo up to date on all research etch it's almost scary! Tell him Jordyn and Ty's mom sent you :)

I can't speak highly enough of my 10-year-old daughter's pediatrician, Dr. Donna Pachorek. She speaks directly to my daughter, takes as much time as needed, stays current, and has seen my daughter since day 1. She's in a practice with several other doctors (Dr. Peter Antall is also fabulous). The name of the practice is Conejo Children's Medical Group, they are in Newbury Park, and their number is ###-###-####.

If you don't mind coming out to Agoura, I recommend Agoura-West Valley Pediatrics. My kids usually either see Dr. Kathryn Stiles or Dr. Andrew McClaren, but the younger doctors seem really great as well. I usually stay away from Dr. Cosmer, just because he seems a bit of a stick in the mud, personality wise, but other than that, I don't think you can go wrong.

I highly recommend Los Robles Pediatric Group. My son sees both Dr. Chi (woman) and Dr. Hersch (man) and they are both wonderful. They've been seeing him since he was in the NICU when he was born and I can't say enough good things about them. In fact, Dr. Chi saved my little cousin's life when he was about 3 with her diagnosis- he had a very rare intestinal disorder that is life threatening and hard to diagnose.

Hello,
You might try Dr. Kenneth Saul.
430 Avenenida De Los Arboles T Oaks
###-###-####

My Doctor referred us to him when we first moved to T. Oaks
He said Dr. Saul was one of the top pediatricians in T. Oaks and that is who would use for his own children if he lived here in town. The office was always quick about getting us in.
Newbury Prk/T. Oaks is a wonderful place to raise children.
Welcome and best wishes to you and your family.

We also go to community pediatrics in Westlake ###-###-####) and I recommend them highly. There are 6-7 pediatricians and they're all good, though I do steer clear of Dr Nudelman (style clash rather than any prof reason). We started out seeing dr Goldstein exclusively who is great with kids and very experienced. However, I switched to Dr Altmann whom we had seen in Dr Goldtein's abscence and adored. She's wonderful! She has two very young children herself, is a "new-ish" dr and is so up to speed on everything and has a great bedside manner. She's delightful and I'm sure she'd be terrific with your little girls. She is an instructor at UCLA and has been quoted in some major pediatrics/parenting magazines on parenting issues. She also runs some of the parenting workshops through the group. Highly recommended.

Los Robles Pediatric Medical Group in Thousand Oaks (299 west hillcrest drive). they are FANTASTIC!!! when i first got pregnant 6 years ago i went to 3 practices in the area and i couldn't believe how different they all were. at one office, the support staff was incredibly rude. at another, the waiting room was dark and dirty. i have to say, i was pretty discouraged. then i walked into Los Robles Pediatric and it was like a totally different world. the office was bright and cheery, everyone was friendly. i met dr. michael gollub and he was wonderful. he was very patient and answered all my new-mommy questions that he's probably heard a thousand times. i felt like my kids would be well-cared for and they absolutely have been. i now have 3 kids and i have had the opportunity to see all four doctors (2 men, 2 women) and they are all as wonderful as dr. gollub.
they have an excellent website that you should look at www.losroblespeds.medem.com and they have a phone nurse (which i have used probably 30 times in the last 5 years!). youwhen you call into the office you can choose the option for leaving a message for the phone nurse. you tell what's going on with your child and you will get a call back from a nurse who, after consulting the doctor, will tell you what you should do. and if you need to come into the office right away, they will see you right away. i've never waited more than 5 or 10 minutes in the waiting room.
i have to go (my newest little one is waking up). here's the number ###-###-####. welcome to town!

I take my children (2 and 2 months) to Community Pediatrics Medical Group. They have an office in Westlake Village and one in Moorpark. I specifically see Dr. Greene and I love him!! He is very patient and both offices are clean and staffed really well. There are a total of 8 pediatricians in the group (2 females) and their response times are fantastic. You might want to see if your insurance excepts them and check them out. I have never had a bad experience yet.

Welcome to the area!! If you want to come to Camarillo, Dr. D'Andrea was recommended to me last year when I was new to the area. He was great with both my kids and we were only there for him to see one. I was told by my source that all of the pediatricians in that office are great. Pleasant Valley Pediatric by the Camarillo hospital.
Good luck with your search!!

I love this practice. Though I don't know if they follow your # 1 criteria (follow up on the latest research - I would assume they do, but you could always ask if they attend conferences, etc..)
The wait times are not too bad. Most times I am waiting! Though recently I wasn't (maybe it was early in the day.) But I don't mind because it's such a lovely office. The staff is very friendly. The doctors are very warm, kind, approachable. My children love going. Dr. Donna Pachorek switched from another practice (which got too busy, popular for her) and bought the building. It's right off the Ventu Park exit (I'm in Westlake, so it's a bit of a little drive for me) and you'd be very close. She is so gentle and slow with exams and always asks the child permission. When I had my 2nd child (daughter) she did a house call because I had a homebirth and didn't want to drive anywhere. My 3.5 year old daughter LOVES her partner, Dr. Antall (he is the father of 3 girls) and she whines to visit the Dr. when she has a cold or is "sick" just to see him.

The office is beautifully designed. Other offices I have been to seem like a dump. This place is not. I recommend visiting both offices, interviewing them and go with your gut.

BTW, I send out e-mails of local events of interest to Conejo Valley families. Send me a message if you want to receive the e-mails.

WOW - I've never seen Dr. Natalie Rubin (i was apprehensive b/c I didn't know her) so I'm glad to read the review. That's 2 recommendations for Conejo Children's Medical BTW. :)

Dr. Nathalie Rubin is THEE BEST! She is right off Ventu Park Road. Dr. Rubin is extremely knowledgeable and always open to what we, the parents have to say. She is friendly and playful with our 2 daughters (3rd one coming in August)...she remembers their dolls names, their interests, their school, their friends...she is very "in tune" with what it takes to be a successful pediatrician, both for the chilren and the parents. We loved her from the start because she was young and had a child of her own...we felt she could relate to us and she does! We have never had to wait for appts, even in calling with an emergnecy fever, etc.. She is wonderful and we feel so lucky to have found someone we can trust explicitely for our childrens care. The staff is great too! Super friendly and caring. I certainly could not ask for a better person to care for our children. GREAT!

Also...you can go to www.ratemds.com to check out hers and other recommendations. Everyone looks for something different in a doctor and everyone has their own opinion, but this may help you out. (You'll see my review, as it's exactly what I wrote above)

All the best!

Another vote for Dr. Gerald Berkman. I've been to many pediatricians over the years and he is by far the best. The staff is wonderful, remembered me from conversations held days before and he really knows his stuff. I highly recommend him!
