Does anyone have experience or feedback about working for Melaleuca or selling/buying their products? I'm considering buying their products and then working to refer new people. Sounds like a great deal? I'm wondering what kind of experiences other people have had... Thanks!

I use and sell Shaklee http://www.shaklee.com/index.shtml I prefer it over Melaleuca as we don't react to their products as we did to Melaleuca. My husband has had problems with skin reactions. I do not use Shaklee makeup but I have had great reviews on the makeup products. I do not make a whole ton of money selling the product because I don't push I don't like people who push, I believe if you want to make a decent amount of money selling products like this you have to be a pusher. So if you are not a pusher I wouldn't plan on you making a whole ton of money. I would check out both websites read some reviews and figure out which product company you would like. I know first hand that Shaklee treats their distributors with great respect and their customers. If you are interested I can get you set up to be a distributor for shaklee but that is up to you.

MJ, first of all, make sure it is a product you will use yourself before you consider selling/offering it to others. I'm afraid some people have been burned by MLMs in the past...I however, have a MLM business and love every moment of it! It's not about selling the products, it's about making a change in a person's life. I see changes that people make for themselves and their families, and yes, they become a part of my "family." I started by using the products and fell in love with the results. I'm sure you've heard of my business but I will tell you to research all you can about the company itself. I know nothing about Melaleuca but I do know business and if the compensation plan is not up to par, please look into others. Mine has the best compensation that I could find. If you have questions or would like more info you can call me. ###-###-####. I have my business with Arbonne International www.arbonne.com We work to help each other build a new life. And no, I do not get paid by having others "sign up." I have to physically work my business, too! Anyway, hope this helps and have to tell you what Mr Trump said when he was asked what business he would go into if he knew what he did now....he said Network Marketing. Keep that in mind and best of luck!

I work with a team called Work at Home United and we are partnered with Melaleuca. I absolutely LOVE it! I am making great money, don't have to be pushy, I am NOT contacting people who have not asked to be contacted, I have not pushed it on my friends and family, My children are SO much healthier and the company is in great standing in the business world.
We have 4 great product lines. Arbonne is good but sells items with toxins in them...we do NOT! During these hard economic times my business is building so quickly because it works! I would love to share this with everyone! It can totally change your life.

I don't know what it is but I did have someone bugging me when I was at work leaving many messages. She was trying to recruit me, way too pushy. Later I found out she was well known for being an annoying Melaleuca consultant. Not many people in this town have good things to say about it. I do believe the key in doing any direct sales business is you have to LOVE what you sell. I was first a Scentsy customer, loved it and wanted to sell it right away. I continue to have success as time goes by because again, I LOVE IT!www.scentsy.com/angelf. Good luck!

I "worked" for them about 8 years ago and wouldn't recommend that anyone do so. Their products are full of chemicals and are quite expensive. Nowadays, there are some great all-natural products that can be found in health food stores or even some regular grocery stores. They are much safer for you, the environment and are definitely much cheaper than buying from Melaleuca.

Also, I just wanted to comment on Ruthie's comment that I am bitter. I am not at all! All "ingredients" in products are not chemicals, and Melaleuca is not natural. My son is chemically sensitive and it bugs me a lot when a company claims to sell non-toxic products, when in fact their products are full of toxic ingredients. And this doesn't just apply to Melaleuca, but to many of the "natural" products sold in stores today. I suggest that you read the labels - if you can't pronounce something or if it has fragrance or coloring listed as an ingredient, then it is not all-natural. I would have a big moral conflict if I was marketing a product as natural when I knew that it was in fact not, so I was simply wanting to let MJ know of this. I am not trying to sell anything by replying to MJ. I am not trying to get her to sign up for x, y, or z company instead of Melaleuca as others seem to be doing. But because of my experiences with my son, I have a passion to educate people on the products that they choose to use or in this case, sell to others. And thanks for reading this through to the end! :-)

My aunt and uncle "sold" melaleuca about 20 years ago, and got my parents into it. My folks bought a time or two for household use and never tried to make money from it. My mom uses the tea tree oil occasionally on a wound or the like, but you can buy tea tree oil in stores as well. Melaleuca is a multi level marketing business, much like any of the others. If you're into that, it's probably as good as any.

It kind of becomes a lifestyle, where you approach everyone you come in contact with about it. That aunt and uncle did amyway for years too, trying to "get rich". They finally got divorced and my uncle, in his 60s, has become a truck driver. He never saved for retirement, so works hard now (after all those leisure years in amway). I have no interest in MLMs or anything like them, and don't believe in paying exhorbitant prices for things, so it torments me whenever people approach me about such things; it seems they are only interested in that, not being friends... but many people like it so if it works for you, then great!

I once knew a woman who must have been in her 30s at the time. She had a giant keloid/scar on her arm. She said it was a reaction to melaleuca that her friend's dad put on her when she cut herself at the friend's house as a child. I was stunned because I had heard what a miracle wonder it was all my life.

Melaleuca review (independent) - This website just checked us out. We are NOT an MLM or even listed with the IRS as an MLM, and we do not function as one. However, many sites lump us in with other home business opportunities which are MLM simply because we are unique (trademarked Consumer Direct Marketing concept) and they do not know how else to classify us. This review was done in 2000. We now do have online enrollments as he suggested, and we have had record-breaking growth. Last year we had over 1/2 billion dollars in annual sales, and we are already expected to top that this year. http://www.mlmreview.com/mlmreview/melaleuca020.html

I think that alot of people have alot of ideas of what natural is & make alot a claims that they have no idea about what they are talking about. People should not bash on a company simply because they represent another company.
I have been in both MLM's & then network marketing businesses & they both have there strong points & both have there weaknesses. It all comes down to how much time & effort you want to put into getting debt free.

Melaleuca is a great company & it has a great track record for their compensation plan (your pay) it is not a MLM because you will get a 1099 for you to file with your taxes - you are listed as self employed thru the IRS.
Melaleuca is not at all a get rich quick business unless you know alot of people who are health conscience, you will need to meet new people & have them to listen to a short presentation of the business plan.
It does work ! Many thousands of people are making double their "job" income in Melaleuca & have been abe to retire from their jobs. I am working my way to being debt free thru Melaleuca because it is a great company to work with.
I have been in several home based (MLM's) businesses & got out because they were "things" driven not "health of people & our planet" driven like Melaleuca whose products are all plant based, yes they have medicines like "tylenol" that have chemicals in them but their brand does not have all the less than healthy fillers in them & actually their form of tylenol works much better for me & my family.
Melaleuca partners with Work At Home United which gives us the training & the support to make the most out of our new business. Work at Home United ( WAHU ) is an awsome team of mostly ladies (but has some single fathers on board), that provides great help & great incentives to help us get financially free, plus our Melaleuca business willable & the income is residual.
The company even offers a 90 day guarantee on your enrollment & a 100% guarantee on their products.
The company has been in business for over 20 yrs.
The product pricing is comparable to Wal-Mart & they are concetrated, some are super concentrated.
Melaleuca has a 95 % reorder rate because the products are that great & the products are so versitile ( each with variety of additional uses than listed on the bottle; which is why I recommend that if you use Melaleuca products you should invest in a Wellness guide book -so you can get the most out of your fabulous products - from healing to cleaning to repelling bugs.
Melaleuca also has a great weight loss program that helps you loose weight & get healthier in the process. These products taste fabulous & are hard to resist.
My favorite products are Renew lotion & Sol-U-Mel because Renew heals up all sorts of skin ailments & leaves your skin feeling soooo soft. & the Sol-U-Mel because it has like 20 different uses for your body & your house & your pets & even your car , plus I love the smell of it ( very earthy).

Feel free to check it all out on www.Melaleuca.com

I like Melaleuca because of their safer products. There are many ways to save money on their products (over 450 various products). I've been shopping with them for 10 years. It really takes at least 6 months to get use to the way the shopping works but once you get use to it you will save money and you'll love the products. As far as a business, Melaleuca has 2 of the 3 ingredients to develop a great business...great products and a great compensation plan but the most important ingredient is YOU!!! YOU are the most important thing in any business.

Hi MJ - I don't use Melaleuca myself, but I know people who use and love their products, and I also know distributors as well. From what I know, many of the products are great, especially their cleaning products.

I am also in the network marketing industry (with Arbonne), and I have to say that there are many types of people in the networking marketing business (it takes all type in this world). Unfortunately if only takes one pushy, unethical person to create a bad rap for the rest of us. Luckily however, most people in this business are looking to change their lives, and help others. If you are looking to join this industry, I'd recommend you find a company that:
1) has products that you LOVE and would use personally whether or not there was a business attached to it. If you don't know and love the products yourself, you won't succeed in the business because people won't believe in it anymore than you do
2) find a company that is a good fit for you and that you can stand behind ethically, make sure that it's a stable company that is growing in this market and is associated with the DSA (Direct Seller's Association) and in good standing.
3) Make sure that the company will give you back most or all of your money if you decide that the business just isn't for you so that there is no risk in your investment.
4) find someone that you 'connect' with and enjoy working with to be your sponsor, as you will be spending time with that person learning the business and getting trained.
5) Make sure the company has great 'online' training in place as well, that is FREE! If the company wants you to learn the business, they should provide you with every resource you need to learn the business at your leisure (and maybe that is at midnight online!)

Network marketing businesses are work. They are not 'get rich' quick schemes. They are called NetWORK marketing, not NetEASY marketing. They require that you spread the word about the products and the business. You don't (at least in my business you don't) get paid unless products are sold. This is done by 'sorting' through whether the business or products are a fit for people or not, not by 'pushing' people into it. Give them the info and let them decide. Those that succeed in this business are the ones that put others first before themselves.

As for the person who stated that Arbonne is full of toxins, I'd be careful about making such a blanket statement (especially since there are many of us on this group that are reps in Arbonne). Arbonne does testing above and beyond what is required in the cosmetics industry, we base our research and development on European standards (which by the way are much higher than standards in the US. Over 11,000 ingredients are banned in the European Union and only about 8 are banned in the US). I have personally met the head of our Product Development and know that this company, Arbonne would not include toxins in their products! Our motto is PURE, SAFE, and BENEFICIAL. I wouldn't use anything on myself or my family that would be considered harmful, now that I know better and have educated myself in the market and industry. Although the Cosmetic Database at EWG that people have mentioned is certainly a starting point, keep in mind that it is not perfect. They can not possibly keep up with the changes in product ingredients over time. Many/most of the products that they have reviewed from Arbonne in that database, don't even exist anymore, or they have the wrong/outdated ingredient list on the website, so take it with a grain of salt. As more research and studies are conducted on safety in the world, Arbonne keeps up with that, and make changes to improve our products based in improvements in science and availability of better natural ingredients on an ongoing basis.

Anyhow, off my soap box for a minute....Not every product is right for every person. Everyone's skin is different, so I say try the products for yourself, see if the products change your skin, and maybe, just maybe the business could change your life too.

Good luck MJ!

I have been a customer for the past couple months because I love the products. The person who said the stuff is full of chemicals is sounding a bit bitter. Everything is full of chemicals! That's what "ingredients" are! the thing about the melaleuca is that they are natural and they are not half water! Sure you can buy similar items in the store, but you actually would pay more to get the same amount. The store products are watered down. melaleuca comes concentrated.

I don't buy everything melaleuca...but some of their products I just love. I love their hand lotion, laundry soap, tooth whitening toothpaste (my gums haven't felt this good ever!) and my teeth are much whiter, the dish soap (a little goes a very long way), and the dishwasher soap keeps the water spots off my dishes (now I don't have to buy the other spot stuff that goes in with the dishsoap).

Someone mentioned that they are multi-level marketing and legally they aren't. You do have an upline...I have an awesome one. But I also get a check each month and I don't have anyone below me. It's only about $8, but it makes what I've bought that much cheaper. If I turned only 8 people onto melaleuca, then I'd have over a $100 a month...which would more than pay my monthly melaleuca order!

The other thing that sold me is the company itself. It's a good company that treats its employees really well. There is a long line of people waiting to work for them because they have such great benefits and working conditions. they are a company that was "green" long before "green" was the in thing.

not all sales companies are bad. but it's very easy for others to bash them to make their companies seem better. You should find a melaleuca person that you like. There are plenty of good ones out there.

I don't know where you live, but I would happy to talk to you more about it.
