Well... My husband couldn't wait until sunday so he woke me up this morning to take the digital one (only one we had left). So with my morning-pee lol... I got the results.. PREGNANT! SO thank you to all who gave me advice and most if not ALL of you were right... I was pregnant. We couldnt be happier to bring another child into our family and give our Fiona a little brother or sister. So thank you for all your help and advice.

Hello! Clearblue Easy may not be as sensitive as the First Response test. Taking another First Response test in a couple of days may show a darker line. Even a very light line is considered positive. Best of luck!

I've always heard you can have a false-negative response, but never a false-positive result. So, go ahead and try again. With my second pregnancy, I think I did like 3 tests before I really believe I was pregnant. Good luck!

It may be that you are pregnant, but it is early. This happened to me with my 4th child. I waited a couple of days, and tested again, and then the red line was undeniable!

For my first son I finally got a very light pink line a week and a half after my period was late. I didn't bother with a second test, I just called my doctor and they gave me a pregnancy test in the office and confirmed that I was pregnant. If I were you, I'd call my doctor and go in to be tested. Congratulations!

Take the test first thing in the morning. Your 'liquids' are more concentrated then - and use the digital kind. Good luck - let us know!

It is not possible for one to read 'pregnant' if you are not. There is a hormone that has to be present, that your body only makes when you are pregnant, for it to show at all. Though, it is possible for it to read 'not pregnant' if you are. Congratulations!! Go get a check-up.

Hi C.-

Why not call your doc again and ask if you can just get the blood test right away and then just have your regular doc apt on march 4th? A lot of docs will just send you a prescription to go to a local lab (like Quest, etc.) to get your blood test done.

I've always heard that there are never false positives, only false negatives. What's the harm in testing again? So you're out $8...big deal. The doctor might be your best option, however. This way they could give you a blood test to determine your HcG levels.

I only say this becasue it happened to me less than a year ago when i was trying. Thoses pregnancy tests are not the greatest at detecting early. even the first reponses. it did the same thing to me and I WAS pregnant. Try again this weekend, I know it is an exciting process but well worth the wait for the surprise. The sooner you find out the longer the pregancy seems to be. If by chance it didn't happen this time, I highly recommend the ovulation detector packs. It is the best way to find out the days you are ovulating and when you are your most fertile. Good Luck!

I had exactly the same problem with those pregnancy tests... they are supposed to show up within a certain time period but my body and hormones took a couple of weeks longer with both pregnancies which was so frustrating. With my last child, I had exactly the same problem; different tests are more sensitive and I didn't find the early response ones were any better! So yes, take another test and use the same brand that showed you the faint line.... my first very faint line was indeed a positive when I took the test again 3 days later!

Good luck

go to the doctor to have a test. sometimes a blood test is more accurate. i have a friend who had a light pink line went to the doctor and found out she was pregnant. do not be anxious and relax it will happen before you know it.

That normally happens to me as well. The first test is barely noticeable then I retest 2 days later then it becomes more clear. If for some reason is not and one still shows + and the other - the best bet is to go to your OB for further testing! =)

I always used First response, it gave results sooner. The first time it was sooo faint that I wasn't sure. I retook it 3 days later and it was a little darker, the point is, hcg is there. I would recheck this weekend and call your doctor for bloodwork, but chances are that you are pregnant.

Hi C.
with my second child i took a preg test and it came up negative only to take one the next week and it was positive. like me, you may ovulate later on in your cycle- meaning that you would be a week or so less pregnant than what you think, give it time and take another test. good luck. C.

Hello,
Yes- I have had this exact thing happen to me. Twice. And I was definately pregnant both times. My doctor explained to me that as long as there is a line there at all it is positive. Some tests are more sensitive than others but it's pretty much impossible to get a false positive. If the line is very very faint it just means the hormone level is lower- which is why it didn't show up on the other test. It is impossible to get a false positive because that second line has a chemical reaction with the hormone. Nothing else replicates that hormone so nothing else can cause the chemical reaction. A false negative (like the second test you took) is caused because the hormone level is too low for that particular test's chemical reaction. Bottom line: CONGRATULATIONS! Now go call your doctor!!

I have had this happen. Do try again, not with the digital readout, use a pink-line one again, and use your first-thing-in-the-morning pee, it is higher in hCG (the hormone that is detected in the test).
Generally, if you can see even a faint line, you are pregnant. If you got pregnant on your first ovulation after stopping BC, which could have been around New Years Day, assuming you were not on hormonal BC, you should have had a big ol' pink line by now, but you could also have conceived on your second ovulation, around the end of January, and you would JUST be able to start seeing a line right about this weekend.
Good Luck!

It is of my knowlegde that the tests with the lines are an earlier predictor than the digital tests. The digital tests require more HCG to trip it into responding "Pregnant" First Response seems to be one of the tests that detects the least amount of HCG. A faint line is a line and sounds positive to me. Test in another day or two, your levels should double and darken the line. As long as the test did not sit long past the read time and the line was there I would say your pregnant!

We just had our second baby, but I remember when I took the pregnancy tests with her, I had just gone off my BC the end of April and by May 21 I tested positive (it barely showed the line) I checked two more times once it came up negative and then positive. But I was pregnant. So my best guess is you are positive. Good Luck! and Congrats!

Hey C.!

When I was trying to get pregnant with my first, I remember reading in several sources that if there's ANY sign of a second line at all, you ARE pregnant -- it's just very early on. The Clearblue Easy test may not have been as sensitive in detecting the hormone. Since you recently stopped your birth control, there's a good chance you ovulated at an odd time, and your period may be off, so it may be difficult to tell how far along you are if you are pregnant. I'm thinking that maybe you are newly pregnant, and one test is just more sensitive than the other. If I were you, I would wait a couple of days, then try another First Response one. Good luck! I wish you the best!

By the way -- I LOVE your daughter's name! I knew a Fiona when I was younger, and she was a beautiful person, inside and out! That name always makes me think of beauty and kindness. :)

Best of luck!

I swear, this JUST happened to me today. I took an E.P.T. it had a faint blue line, so, since we've been trying since October, I excitedly called my OB/GYN and made an appointment. They sent me for bloodwork, and guess what, negative. I'm SO disappointed. You should call your OB and get an order for bloodwork, that's the most accurate.

HEllo C.,
last year when i became pregnant with my son i had that happen to me, i didn't get my period the day i was suppose to and knowing that i had sex when i was ovulating, i knew it was possible, so i took one test and it came up soo light, then, i had taken another one and it said i wasn't, so then like two days later i took another and made an appointment with my ob, and it said that i was, so if i were you i would take another test and still make an appointment with your ob just to be sure no matter what the test says. So i actually knew that i was pregnant 2 weeks after i got pregnant, and we think that 9 months is long image knowing from the very begining which is ten months, that was hard! Good Luck and i hope you are pregnant, i wish you the best.

Test again. It may be that you are pregnant (like the First Response said) but that you aren't pregnant enough to have a large enough amount of the pregnancy hormone in your urine for the Clearblue EASY. I know that it is a lot more common to have a false negative than a false positive. By a double pack (or triple pack) of pregnancy tests. Test again. If you get another negative but don't get your period over the next 5 days, try again.

When you get a normal period after stopping birth control depends on the type of birth control and your body. It may be that you didn't ovulate until February and it could be very early in the pregnancy or it could be that your body is adjusting to the lack of birth control.

And remember that March 1 is only 2 weeks away. I know when you are waiting for this kind of news that is an eternity but try to stay patient. That isn't that long to wait for an appointment. For some of the specialists that my sons see, you have to schedule an appointment at least 4 months in advance. If you were having a serious problem, I'm sure they would fit you in sooner.

Good luck. I hope you get the news you are looking for.

During my 2 years of TTC I got to know many HPT's well and did a lot of researching about it. First Response usually gives the earilest positive. The Clearblue EASY uses the blue dye, which doesn't work as well. Consumer Reports also rated First Response as the best pregnancy test. There is a website dedicated to HPT's and OPK's that I used to frequent a lot. It is www.peeonastick.com. It has wonderful info and pictures of what postive tests look like at different days past ovulation. Good luck.

Being off Birth control for 1 month is not a lot. I was told one year, depending on the method... It is nice that you are enjoying your first child. Why not continue to and wait a little longer before you expand me the family? When there are two little ones who need you at the same time, it gets much more stressful. Something to think about.

First Response is the earliest pregnancy test that I know of. With my 2nd child I saw a faint line but wasn't sure. I took another one 2-3 days later and it was definietly positive. Take another one on Sunday, First Response, and see if it is darker. If you see anything at all, I would say CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Different brands of pregnancy tests have different sensitivities. It sounds like you may be pregnant and the First Response test can detect smaller amounts of HCG than the Clearblue Easy. To be sure, wait a couple days and try again.

FWIW, the pregnancy tests at Dollar Tree and Dollar General are among the most sensitive ones out there!

When we were trying to get pregnant with our first son, there were a couple of months I was late so I took a pregnancy test and there was a very faint line. Then a few days later I got a really bad period. When I talked to my doctor she said they could have been "chemical pregnancies" where the egg is fertilized but does not implant. When I was actually pregnant the line was very dark and I was only a few days late. It could be that or maybe it's just so early on there is very little hormone in your blood?

Hi, I didn't read all your responses, just thought I'd email you with my experience. I tried 2 years for my third (who is 6 months now). When I took the first test, it was very faint, the second, a little more darker. I just called my OB and asked to have a blood test, they had no problem sending me to the lab. Good luck and hopefully CONGRATS!!!
