Have you tried using a reward chart with her when she does go on the potty? This was effective with my nephew and I am planning to use it with my own son. Every time she goes to the bathroom on the toilet give her a sticker and let her place it on a chart that you hang in the bathroom. Set an amount of stickers that she has to get to get a toy or something that she really wants then get that item for her after she gets that many stickers. It works because they like to know that there is something in the end for all of there hard work and all kids love stickers. Hope this suggestion is helpful.

Just be patient she will come a round but you have to keep on it and get up in the middle of the night to take her to the potty and keep a schedule of potty time. All kids are diff so you have to do whats best for you and your family dont worry you will get through this I did.

I have much younger brothers & sisters and I remember them taking off their diapers alot. I don't really think it's a sign of being ready to potty train. I think they found out that they can pull those tabs & get naked! Maybe try putting the diaper on backwards or even using duct tape if she won't keep it on. And I've always heard that the Cheerios thing is to teach boys how to aim.

Good luck. I'm going to start training my little guy soon too. We've tried a little bit, but most of the time he's just not interested. Kids will go at their own pace I guess.

Hi L.,
I used the all so fabulous pull ups to help my son learn when it was the right time to go. I told him that they were big boy underwear and that he still had to go in the potty. When he had an accident in his pants( poopy) we just went to the potty and put it in there . They were awesome and within 3 months he was trained. He was using the potty by 2 and a few months old.

Hi L.,

Potty training for my daughter was different than when I trained my sons. She trained faster than my boys. It just seem to click for her sooner. From my experience, taking off the diaper means they don't like being wet. Which is a great sign for being ready. I tried the pull ups...and they worked well but it was very much like a glorified diaper. They didn't always discourage her from not wetting her pants. The best thing I used was real underwear (along with rubber pants) Yes, she did have a few accidents but learned quickly because she didn't like the feeling of being wet. One trick I used too was I would give her something to drink...then immediately had her sit on the potty until she would pee. Once she made the connection of wetting and using the potty she seem to get it. Another trick I used was if I caught her grunting or straining like if she was trying to go ( poop ) I would immediately scoop her up and put her on the potty. She did learn to poop on the potty before wetting. As for the cheerio trick...never tried it with her. I always thought it was a boy training trick. If you put cheerios in the potty and have them float it helps the boys with their aim. But now that I think about it...what a good idea. Then again, I'm with you, I would be afraid that she would eat them. My twin girls are just about ready to train...and they put EVERYTHING in their mouth. If they found them in the potty...I am sure they wouldn't hesitate to try to eat them. And they love cheerios. How about the reward idea. If she uses the potty reward her with a little something, I've heard of using m and m's or other pieces of candy. Hope that helps a little anyway! Good luck with your potty training endeavor!

Hi L.
My daughter Mackenzie was fully trained by the timw she wa 16 months. She started to grab her diaper when she was going pee and wanting to take it off right away so I just ran with it. I do not recommed pull ups.... We tried them and she was using them like a diaper. I would recommed that you buy a potty and put it where ever you are at most during the day. Leave it out for her to use and let her run around bare bottome some or the day so she get a sense of what it feels like when she has to go. She will have accidents but she will learn very quickly if you just go straight to underwear. My daughter learned in a matter of days after switching to underwear. They were very frustrating days though so you really have to be committed to it before starting. I also bought her a doll that used a toliet. When she had an accident i put her on the potty afterwards and told her that is where she should go. When she did use the potty we rewarded her with a treat (1 tic tac or 1 m & m) something small. Good Luck

I was told cherrios was for the boys. The Dr. always told me that they will go potty when they are ready. So don't push. My last son was three and two months before he got potty trained. So just take it one day at a time. Put panties on her and tell her if she goes potty in them the character will get mad. SO make sure you get her the panties that have like beauty and the beast or some thing she likes. I do not knwo too many girls characters.

I was all hot and bothered about getting my girl trained when she was 2(like the books and stuff say and when she started doing the things your daughter is doing) - last summer. Oddly enough she developed this weirdo, wicked diaper rash and we STRUGGLED with it for a long time. She was such a mess that I just couldn't push the potty thing too much with her, so I didn't. Then when I was off for winter break (I'm a teacher)we tried again, but she was totally uninterested. So, I put it off again until spring break - just a couple of weeks ago. She had already turned 3 and I was kind of feeling like a potty training failure. Well, when we tried this time, she got it- easy and without too much fuss. She's had a couple of accidents, but she's soooooooooooo aware of everything now and has the physical dexterity to take care of getting her pants on and off and wiping well and washing her hands. It's just easier now that she gets it. (I also used some m&ms as 'bribes' to get her motivated but that only lasted a couple of days until it became 'old hat' for her to pee-pee in the potty) She's dry during naps, but we're still in pull-ups at night. I think every kid does it when they're ready. Follow your own pace and your daughter's lead and know that you're doing the right thing. I find I rush into things with her because the books say we should be doing certain things at certain times. We also have many potty books here that she loves- A Potty for Me by Karen Katz is her FAVORITE and she also loves the Elmo Potty Time DVD. Potty training is called training because it takes time- she'll get it when something in her 'clicks'.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
