Ok - maybe a slight exagerration but it has got to be one of the worst weeks ever in my world - lol.
So - not sure if you saw that Pfizer is recalling a bunch of bc pills because they are potentially defective. Fortunately (for some) it's an older pill that is not as popular - EXCEPT I STILL TAKE THEM!!!!

Ok - thank you - I checked the recall numbers and while it was my pill - it was NOT part of the batch. Phew...my day just got a bit better - lol. :-)
Mine never fails--we use NFP--been working for us perfectly for 10 years. We have 3 kids, each of whom was planned.
I'm looking at what I would do right now...they're 6 & 7. And oh yeah the 13 year old too but that was more my ignorance than anything. So...I decided that the pill was not effective enough for me and husband got snipped. If I were a woman taking the pill that was one of the affected lots, I'd probably go get Plan B and use back up for a while (and not have sex).
Have you checked the lot numbers listed on their website to see if the package you are using is included? That's the first thing I would do, before freaking out. If your package is not included in those lot numbers, you have nothing to worry about. If your package is included in the recalled lots, then what to do about it is your personal decision. I know what mine would be.
I'd be happy if I were in your shoes. Getting pregnant and a big settlement... WOW LOL :)
My son is 3 months tomorrow.
I would be extreamly ticked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I would go take a test. And use protection till you can make sure you get on pills that are not being recalled.

This is gonna sound crazy, but my grandma always said, if you aren't prepared for the possibility of a child, don't have sex. And she isn't saying don't use birth control. She's saying that sex makes babies. It's always a possibility and people seem to forget that. And birth control isn't 100% effective, either by our errors or the product's errors.
If you're not pregnant because of this, find another birth control pill/method.
If you are pregnant, prepare yourself for an amazing blessing in disguise.
They are so dangerous and so damaging-I can't believe you think the worst possible outcome to taking defective pills is having a baby! Anyway-gee, I don't know-give up sex?
Sorry to hear about the scare with birth control pills. Like others here, we have used the fertility awareness method, a kind of NFP, and our pregnancies were planned. Plus, we avoid the guilt of thinking that we're conceiving children and ending their life through abortifacient pills. My situation is the same as "Queen of the Castle". I, too, have been married 10 years and have had only planned pregnancies due to Natural Family Planning. :)
Flip out! But in then end... I believe what is meant to happen will happen! But I would definitely stress about it!
I'll tell exactly what I DID do when I found out my BC was not effective: I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, 9 months later to the day. ^_^ And I haven't had a moment's regret.
But if having a baby is absolutely not an option for you, I would go get the Plan B Pill immediately. It will not work if you are already pregnant, but it will make sure that whatever you did in the last two to three days doesn't take.
Well, if I had recently had sex I would go the pharmacy and get Plan B. Then I would begin using a backup method of birth control and I would hope. I have had two pregnancies because of birth control failure (pills and IUD) - one resulted in my *surprise* oldest child, the other in a miscarriage. I now have my tubes tied. So far, so good.
Pill didn't work for me - husband got snipped in 2009 and we are loving every minute of it!!
In response to A.C.'s suggestion to take Plan B, I tried that. Didn't work. My son is 2.5 years old (and the absolute light of my world!)
I would go get the morning after pill. It only works if you're NOT already pregnant.
I don't know about you, but that's one of the things I always heard, but didn't quite believe. But...My 1yo goddaughter was able to be adopted because her mom (med student) was already pregnant when she took it. She'd taken it within 48 hours of a birth control fail, but apparently she had some speeding conception and implantation happening!!!
If my BC failed, 1) I would freak, 2) I would tell my husband who would freak and 3) we would take a deep breath after a group freak to discuss our options. Since my husband is very supportive, I know he would be my rock as we sorted through it, though, and ultimately we would manage. Sometimes life just throws you surprises. Good luck.
OK so I have to admit, when I saw this I panicked also. Called my pharmacist for reassurance that mine was ok! So I totally understand where you were coming from :)
Im sure eventually there will be a massive lawsuit. Get tested and use back ups. Im sitting in the same boat.
Get a blood serum pregnancy test, call your OB to find out where (generally a lab, perhaps in your OB's practice) the blood test is very accurate and will detect hormone levels that are too low for a urine pregnancy test.
