OB GYN Who Takes HMO And/or Hospital in the Pasadena Area

I've had many (almost 100) great birth experiences at Huntington as a doula. I don't know what you mean about being rigid regarding inductions -- only the doctor can induce your labor and the hospital has to follow the doctors orders. Huntington is a very birth friendly hospital with fabulous nurses! The only negative thing about Huntington is that the partner isn't allowed into the nursery with the baby! Since you don't have to allow your baby to go to the nursery, it shouldn't be a problem.

Drs. Parks, Tamayo and Yun might take your insurance and they're awesome doctors :)

that's weird that you said you've heard negative comments about Huntington Memorial in Pasadena. Because from both of my births, i was so grateful to have been there. The hospital was top notch. i got my own room both times. but then again, i don't think anyone shares room there.

the have a very impressive neonatal and NICU unit that i could not have asked for a better hospital. I went into emergency C-section and my son almost didn't make it. If it weren't for the huge team of doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists (I mean 2 doctors, 1 anestheisologist, 2 nurses for me, 4 for my baby) and their quick thinking, don't know what the outcome would have been. It was amazing the care i got before, during, and after delivery.

i also had a very good doctor in Pasadena who is not only an OBGYN, but also a high-risk neonatalogist. So he's the man you want in your delivery room if anything should go wrong. He is the doctor that other OBGYNs refer their patients to if they're high-risk. But not sure if he takes HMO.

His name is Dr. Bharat D. Shah. And he's off of Alessandro in Pasadena. I know you'll find him if you google his name.

1st off, CONGRATULATIONS! Unfortunately I do not know which doctors accept HMO, but I wanted to comment on a great experience with the birth of my 1st/only daughter. My OB/GYN is Dr. Toni Morrissey (who works with Dr. Teng in the same office), who is really wonderful & a dr. I would definetely recommend. The only negative thing I have to say is the office is very busy so scheduling an appointment can be difficult if you're not pregnant or if it's not an emergency. I delivered at Huntington Memorial & so did a few friends of mine. All of us had wonderful experiences & would recommend the hospital. Good luck!

Dear Maren: I wish I could respond to you privately because I would give you a lot more specific info! However, Huntington and Arcadia Methodist are good places to deliver, but have a doula with you if you can possibly afford one. You will be happy you paid the money. Dr. Grady (he has offices in Sierra Madre and San Gabriel) tends to be pretty easygoing about things, especially if you are concerned about the pressure to induce. He delivers at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, Arcadia and Huntington, too. He also takes HMO coverage, but Dr. Morrissey and Tang do not (and I've heard good things about them, too.)God Bless you!

Both of my children were delivered by Patric Sutton (he takes HMO). He delivers at Huntington and Verdugo Hills (not sure about the arcadia area). As of my last child (4 years ago) Huntington would not take HMO births unless you had a special circumstance (twins, high risk, etc). You might want to check into that.
I delivered one at Hunt. and the other at VH. The birthing exp was much better at Hunt but the after care was much better at VH.
