Ok ladies (and gentlemans)... I need your advice on whether or not to buy a sit and stand stroller. I have a 2 1/2 year old independent daughter who wants to walk everywhere we go. I also have a 10 month old son. I have looked into the baby trend sit and stand, and the joovy sit and stand. What do you think? Is it worth it or should I not bother? Is the sit and stand bulky and too big? Is it easy to use and position for your needs? I have heard that most mom do not like the joovy. What do you think? I appreciate your advice!

I bought the Baby Trend at Target and my sons are 3 1/2 and 15 months. It was the best thing I bought since my 3 1/2 year old gets tired of walking all the time. The only thing is that it is very bulky when you fold it up.

Hi J.,

I have the Baby Trend and a friend of mine has a Joovy. I love my baby trend and my friend loves her Joovy! I think the only thing that made me get the Baby Trend was that it was priced better at the time we bought ours.

For me, I think it folds up just as well as our other stroller (we had a Graco), its definitely better than a double stroller which we also had and that was a beast!

My boys are 4 and 16 months. We got it last spring and my older guy loves to walk everywhere, but there are time that he wants to "ride." The Baby Trend allows him to sit or stand while his little brother is happy sitting in the front. For me, it really is the best stroller we have (and we've got lots!). The front (for the smaller child) is just like a regular stroller seat and the back (sit or stand) allows you to strap them in for safety as well.

We've taken it everywhere in the city and its really easy to maneuver. We even took it on the Metra and it folded up nicely.

I hope this helps!

J., from my experience with our sit and stand, it wasn't worth the money! It was bulky and really hard to turn with 2 children on it. It seems like such a good idea, but it actually tipped over on us once. Hope this helps.

I, too, have a 2 1/2 year old and a 10 month old. We have the Baby Trend sit and stand....got it at Target online and it was the best purchase ever. When we go somewhere like the zoo, my 2 1/2 year old LOVES to sit with her little sister. I thought the Baby trend was reasonably priced and I've been very happy with it.

Our daughters are 22 months apart (now 3 & 16 months). We bought the Baby Trend sit-n-stand from Target $119.99 before my youngest was even born. I must say it's one of the best $120 I have spent on any baby item. We use is ALL the time (doctor's appts., malls, fairs, etc). My 3 year old is also very independent and wants to walk a lot...BUT the sit-n-stand comes in VERY handy when I NEED her to sit, so I don't worry about where she is, and also when I'm by myself (which is often because my husband works long hours). I haven't had any problems with mine and LOVE it! If you are out and about a lot (like myself), I say it's a great purchase and well worth the $120.
Good Luck!!

Hi J., I have the Baby Trend from Target and I love it!!! My children are 16 months apart and it works out great for us. My son is now 3, and he enjoys walking alongside the stroller, but when he gets tired of walking, he asks to get in and it is so convenient! I do not go anywhere without mine! Good luck!

I love my Joovy. We originally bought it because we were going on vacation. It was a life saver. My 4 year old daughter loves to stand in the back and my 1 year old son loves the front. It is also not much larger than a regular stroller so if I only have my son with me I can still use it. The only down side is the lack of cup holders. I have seen that they make a holder that straps on. I haven't bought one though.

My older kids are 3 years apart (3 years, 2 days). When my 2nd was born I was reluctant to buy the sit 'n stand but got a great deal on a used one. I'm so glad I did. My son was pretty much done with the stroller but we used the sit 'n stand ALOT -- for all day at the zoo, museums, RV shows, train shows, the state fair, etc. He loved it. We got alot of use out of it.

About a year ago, I got rid of the old one (the old style Baby Trends ones) and got the new double one from baby trends. I actually got mine from onestepahead.com but it's a Baby Trends double elite sit 'n stand -- just a special version for One Step Ahead. They also sell the double elite at Target.com. The only difference between teh double elite and the normal sit 'n stand is that the double has a normal backseat (5 pt harness, reclining seat, sunshade, etc) that converts to a sit 'n stand style (bench seat, standing platform). It literally takes less than 2 minutes to convert it and I've done it at the zoo when the 2 year old wanted to walk and the 5 year old wanted to ride/stand. You can also just buy the normal sit 'n stand one and save yourself $20. I now have a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old so I use the double alot even though my daughter usually likes to walk. It's nice to have a seat for her when she wants it. Most people/experts agree that kids shouldn't use a sit 'n stand until they turn 3 because it's not as safe/secure and many 2 year olds hop on/off while it's moving and can get hurt. Of course, you know your child best and she may not do that. We're leaving our stroller in the normal 2-seat double configuration for our daughters until she turns 3 next summer.

As for the size, the one I have is great. When folded, it's about the same size as the single Graco I have. I can lift it easily in/out of the back of my SUV. When it's behind the 3rd row seat, there's still plenty of room for groceries and other things (GMC EnvoyXL). It folds easily with one hand. It steers great even when loaded down with 80 pounds worth of kids. There's a large storage basket you can get to from the sides - it's almost impossible to get to it from the top with a child is sitting in the backseat (not sit 'n stand mode).

I love it. I've been using it 5-6 times a week for a year now and I still haven't found anything I don't like about it!!

I have a Joovy sit and stand. I love it! The Joovy seemed a little bit shorter than the Baby Trend, which is why I went with it, and its definitely less bulky than a double. I bought it when my girls were about the same age as your children and it worked wonders. My 2 1/2 year old didn't push me to walk so much because she was able to stand on it and I guess felt a little more freedom.

I highly recommend it!!

I did my research just recently as I have a 6 week old and an almost 3 year old. I went with the baby trend sit n stand. I absolutely had to have the cup holders for me and the little cubby is good for keys. It is a little bulky, but what do you expect, it's big. It isn't as bad as a double. It moves pretty well, so I can't complain. My daughter also likes to walk, but when you go places with a lot of walking (mall, zoo, or just need to go quickly) it's great to have a place for her.
Good luck!!

I have the joovy ultraligh, it is was new for 2007. It comes with a handle bar belt with slots to hold misc stuff as well as my coffee. I just love it, I did alot of research and found the baby trend way to heavy. I have a 3.5 yr. old and a 1yr old we take it with us everywhere. If you decide to buy it look online much better prices and no tax and shipping free.

I absolutely LOVED my Sit and Stand! It was PERFECT for our 2 kids. . .my daughter was independent enough to walk and/or sit and/or stand - she liked having the option. It allowed me more time places before she got "bored" and just wanted to run. Especially if I brought books and stuff with. I have to admit, I used it A LOT more when my first baby was born (newborn and 2.5 yrs old at the time). Up until the little one was about a year - then it really was a pain to lug it around along with 2 kids. My oldest is now 3.5 and doesn't even consider the stroller as an option for her so we went back to using our umbrella stroller. But again, I LOVED it when my kids were younger. . .

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Joovy ultralight. I'm a bit of a stroller addict and this is the best ever. I have a 6 year old and 3 year old twins. In a pinch, all 3 have climbed aboard and it's still steerable and does a great job. It's lightweight, folds easily and is comfortable to use with the padded handle and coffee holder. The original sit and stand was just too heavy and bulky for me and I found the ultralight to be the perfect solution for our family.
