My husband and I both tend to go for the more "traditional" names. I think they're strong names and can last a kid his whole life.
Anyway, our boys are named Jacob and Henry. We found out after the fact that Jacob was the most popular boys' name in 2001 (when he was born), so he usually has at least 1 other Jacob/Jake in his preschool/kindergarten class. For a long time he thought his name was Jacob S! Every time he wrote it he had to include the "S".
With Henry, while it IS a family name, it's really becoming more and more popular. Julia Roberts and Heidi Klum both have Henrys, and it's always fun to meet another little guy with the same name.
Other names we've debated: Lucas (Luke), Benjamin, Oliver, Charlie.
I agree with thinking of every possible way to make fun of a name. Kids can get pretty creative. I graduated with a guy whose initials were "PMS"--let me tell you, he got teased about that in middle school. Dumb, but that's how it goes...
Good luck!
