Need a Running Stroller (BOB, Kelty or Baby Jogger?)

Hi,

My daughter turns 6 mo this weekend and I would like to start running with her. I'm looking to get a good running stroller. However, most of the reviews of the "jogging" strollers that I've read have been from non-runners or joggers.

Are there any runners out there who can advise on the good and bad points of the stroller she is using? What do you wish it did that it doesn't do? Is there one that you've seen a running partner use that you'd rather have?

I've been looking at the BOB Ironman, the 2006 BOB Sport Utility, the Baby Jogger Performance Series and I've been told to look into the Kelty's, but I don't know anything about them yet.

Can you tell me if you have the 16 or 20 inch wheels and especially, if you've used both, which you think is better?

I mostly run on the streets or on paved paths around my house - no real "off-roading", if you know what I mean, just the occassional dirt path beside the sidewalk.

Also, if you have a stroller that you are no longer using and would like to sell, please let me know that as well.

Oh, and if you have any tips for road racing, please let me know. I only know some of the things I don't want to do (from past experience being on the "wrong side" of rude stroller-runners... if you know what I mean). I'd like any suggestions (or complaints) you can think of to help make me a more thoughtful and polite racing mama!

Thanks!

P.

Check out Baby Bargains or Toddler Bargains (books that rate various baby items/gear). We purchased a BOB jogging stroller over a year ago and love it (initially purchase the Maclaren MAC 3 and it continued to have flat tires every 1. 5 weeks so had to trade up). Good luck

Hi P.,

Here links to some jogging strollers I found that people were selling on craigslist.com. They all have pics so you can see the condition, and look at all of them cause some of the prices are better than others for the exact same stroller. You can click on the link or copy and paste to your address line. Hopes this helps.

Hi P..

I actually was about to post my Schwinn M3 Jogging Stroller Silver on mamasource to try to sell. I enjoyed using it with my son who is now 2.5 years. However, I now have a newborn and can't see when I will be able to use it since it is only has a single seat. I believe it retails for $160-$180. Mine is in excellent condition and I am going to sell it for $75. Please let me know if you would be interested in looking at it.

I bought a "dreamer design" one a couple of years ago and although I don't run with it, I used it all the time for walks and it is great. When I did my research it was one of the best! Anyhow, I'd be interested in selling it for about $80 (moving and clearing stuff out!). If you're interested, call me ###-###-####. It is in like new shape!

I did a lot of research on finding a jogging stroller b/c jogging is my sanity. Surprisingly, a lot of stores don't carry real jogging strollers. The one I ended up with was cheaper than the BOB stroller, but the Dreamer had great reviews and was about 100 to 150 dollars cheaper than the BOB. I love it!! I don't hit my shins on it when I run, it's super smooth, and it provides tons of shade for my 6 month old. Here is the website: www.dreamerdesign.net. I have the Dreamer Rebound 20" GST which has the 20" wheels. The website shows you all of the features of the stoller. If you have any additional questions, feel free to email me.

Hi!

I have a nice, barely -and I mean barely- used jogging stroller I could sell. I think it's Eddie Bauer, but I have to check when I get home. It's a deep green color. You can call this evening if you want so I can tell you the brand and a better description if you're interested.
