Need a PM Babysitter

We're looking for an occassional evening babysitter since we don't have family in town to help out. I'm leery of simply calling someone out of the newspaper or on web listings.

We have a four-month old and live in Santa Clara near Irving elementary. I'd want someone who would come into our home. It would probably be only 2 to 4 hours at a time -- enough time for me and my husband to have a fun date.

Any names of sitters or suggestions of how to start our search are appreciated!

You could try calling the family planning /day care office at the U of O. They have a listing of students interested in babysitting for extra money. The number is ###-###-####

Hi Julee,

I would suggest putting a flyer up at the high school in your area and specify that you are looking for a junior/senior that has CPR/Babysitting experience. That has worked for us occasionally....or simply asking around with people from work or your neighborhood.

Would you consider trading with each other? I am new in town and although I have a teenage cousin who can babysit, she's pretty involved in school and isn't always available. (Very responsible though, so I could recommend her). Wondered if you would want to trade off babysitting with each other, like once a month or so for dates with our husbands. We have a 3 month-old and a 19 month old. And we'd want someone in our home also.
We are christian, non-smoking, and have no pets. We live off of Goodpasture Island Road.

Hi, J.~

There is a daycare resource center at LCC called Lane Family Connections. They can be used by anyone in Lane County. They have daycare providers and everything you can think of. They're wonderful to work with, and will answer any question you have. Their number is ###-###-####. Hope this helps.
