Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin in Babies

We had a fabulous response with "Mustela"...it is made in France I believe but sold at a lot of baby stores. We used the one in the blue and white tube, it was a skin wash and hair wash all in one. It was sooo great we did not have to use topical meds. anylonger.
I hope you give it a try and that it works for you as well.

I too have eczema and several lotions make it worse. The best thing that I have found has been cetaphil, they have a lotion, foaming face wash and bar soap that works very well.

Hey T., I know your mental anguish. Had same experience with now 3yr old son. Tried it all nothing seem to work. He was born with what they (dr.'s) called baby acne. For maintenance used Dove sensitive skin, Dreft, and Eucerin. I just thought that it was something that he had to grow out of because nothing was curing it. I have a friend who's daughter was seeing a dermatologist and she told me about an oinment called Triamcinolone. I was desperate, so I tried hers. I'm telling you, it works! The 1st time I tried it was the 1st time I felt his skin as baby skin.

Just one thing that has not been mentioned... Cerave. I find it at CVS. It's not as greasy as Eucerin but thicker than Curel.

The dermatologist recommended that for my toddler who had the worst ezcema, back when she really needed moisture coverage. We've since started using Curel fragrance-free.

Good luck! I know it's awful trying all these costly products when they don't always work.

I am having an issue right now too. I am using Aquaphor and washing his extremely dry areas with selsun blue. How long do other moms try a product before deciding to try something else? I don't know how long to wait to expect results. Thanks!

Does everyone in the family use dye free detergent. What about who takes care of him. If his skin is really sensitive then even someone holding him for a short time could cause a reaction.

Look up California Baby http://www.californiababy.com/. It is a natural product for kids, they make everything baby washes, lotion, sunscreen etc. You can get it a Central Market or order it off line. They make a super sensitive fragrance free lotion. I started with the sunscreen because I did not want to put stong chemicals on my babies skin and now have bought the wash and lotion and love it all. Hope he gets better and good luck.

If you would like to try the Arbonne I would be more than happy to send you some samples. I don't sell it anymore, but have some samples left. If your babies skin responds well there are several moms that are reps on mamasource. My daughter has very bad ezcema and the arbonne baby line did help. Also the Nutrimen C also helped

I have had this problem since my son was 3 months old. He gets eczema due to food allergies. The only that really works is Arbonne baby lotion and some really expensive stuff from Kiels that works on his eczema (I dont know the name of it, if you would like to try it, i can get it for you.)
I love love love! Arbonne's baby line- their baby oil after a bath is wonderful, especially for really dry skin. It doesn't clog pores (like aquafore and Aveeno did for my son), and you want something lite during the summer.

Arbonne has a great baby line! it's all natural..and I use it on my psoriosis and it works very well. I don't sell it..but I know a couple people that do and i'm sure moms on here do also..it's not expensive at all..maybe someone can send you a sample pack.

Burts Bees has a lotion that is gentle and natural; does not burn my child as other lotions do when I put it on dry spots.

I have the same problem with my kids, Cale is 5 and Chloe is 5 months. Cale used Elidel too, but I saw that a study showed it caused cancer in children!! OMG. So, I found that Grins n Giggles Aloe Vera wash/lotion worked for him. I tried the Aveeno, Aquaphor, and everything else. For Chloe the only thing that has worked so far is Huggies brand sensitive skin in oatmeal. Our DR also told us to use .5% hydrocortisone cream on her too. Chloe has dry skin so bad it's even on her scalp! Geez! I hope that helps! Oh, I use Cetaphil too. They have WONDERFUL products for sensitive dry skin!

All 3 of my boys have very sensitive skin too! We use Renew lotion & it works better than anything else we've tried (Aveeno, Huggies, Eucerin, Aquaphor, Cetaphil, store-brands, Jergens, etc). It is really soothing on their skin & helps to keep their skin soft. Plus, it isn't greasy at all!

We only use Curel the entire house.

For my son I had to bathe him with safeguard or ivory and I use vasoline for moisturizer. He was allergic to all the suppose to be baby products for sensitive skin

My DS has sensitive skin also. He's now three, but when he was an infant we used separate laundry soap (Dreft of Baby All for him and dye free All for us), plus I used a toddler dryer sheet I could buy at Babies R Us. I thought regular Johnson's baby lotion had a strong scent and started using the Johnson's "natural" line (body wash and lotion). About six months ago I started using All free and clear laundry soap for all of us and bounce free dryer sheets. I also now use the Huggies Natural Care body wash and lotion and I am very happy to say DS still has his soft baby skin. Of course he drinks a lot of water too. When he does develop a rash, which I hope to be few and far between now that he's potty trained, we only use Dr. Smiths diaper ointment and Aquaphor.

I wish there were a website where you could get samples of baby products to test on your child before you buy one that doesn't work.

I had trouble with my daughter's skin and the only thing that seemed to help was curel for extensive dry skin. I will say that it never seemed to "clear up" but curel seemed to help better than all the others.
