Mamas, Just Curious If You Can Beat My Time

Birth stories =).

My first dd was born at 1037 in the morning exactly 3 hrs after I woke up that day. I drew a bath and my hubby started to mow the lawn. We both thought we had time after all they say firstborns tend to take their time. NOT! It went from a normal- I have to got to the potty to intense GI cramps so quickly

About 1.25 hrs of painful GI cramps ( The pain actually subsided when she was crowning)
<20 mins of pushing and I was taking my time LOL. Dr said "push"... I said, "No I'm not ready yet" ...the hubby said, "The sooner you push, the sooner you see her" and that did it.

Here is what I asked for when I prayed
I wanted a girl and hope that she comes a week early and that I would be so far along that I wouldn't need an epidural. Everything was granted except she came 8 days early.

What can I do next?

The tortoise and the hare? I am the absolute tortoise. Almost two weeks late (a week and 5 days)...baby never dropped...I never went into labor. After a scheduled c-sec, I got "bumped" because of "emergency" deliveries(ahead of me,should have been 7 am, went to 11 am).....1/4 day later....FINALLY!!!! she was born..I never even dialated.....I am so gald I agreed to the visit...my daughter is three now...wow!!! would THAT be uncomfortable!!! (she was NEVER coming out!!)

and a big fat PS...I knew EXACTLY when I got pregnant. We were trying, so, I was charting...its not like the calculations could have been wrong.

Got to the hosp. at 4:45, not know I was in labor, because I had no pain (just a streak of blood). 5:20 I held my baby girl. =)

With my 3rd, I was told I was not in labor. I knew I was. 30 minutes later, I was holding my newborn. :) My water never broke. He came out in his intact bag of waters. Ouch. LOL I *knew* I was in labor.

42 hours. Beat that. :)

If you're curious, amniotic leakage at 39 weeks. Survived pitocin contractions for 12 hours before giving into the epidural. Got to 9 3/4 - little bugger was in there funny. He never wanted out either! :) But he's perfect now, and I managed to forget enough to have another one!

2 hour labor and 10 minutes of pushing for my first baby. My other 4 were scheduled C-Sections because of a platelet incompatibility. Weird!! The quick labor likely saved his life since his platelet count was only 6,000. He was 6 days early.

I can't beat your time, but...might get cha on the delivery. :-)

Went in to the hospital on Jan 3rd. (My birthday, btw) and was told my water didn't break and I would go to my due date Jan 15th. (I still think it did.) So, we went home. Next day, started cramping around noon. No biggie. In early evening was in hard labor in my bathroom and didn't realize it was hard labor. Suddenly, I felt something odd IN the birth canal. It was then I decided to go to the hospital...especially when it MOVED!

Needless to say, the doc was super surprised to not be able to tell how dialated I was. A foot was in the way! LOL. 15 minutes later, I kissed my baby girl for the first time after my emergency c-section. I joke about the next one trying to shake hands with the doctor before birth.

ps...Being born on Jan. 4th...she now shares her birthday with MY mother.
:-)

I was at the hospital and was induced for both my kids. The first one took almost 48 hours to come, the second one, NOTHING. They started me on an epidural early, just so I could have it. Well, I had to tell them i felt pressure, as nothing was showing up on the monitor yet. they came in, and said it was the head and it took 20 minutes to have it. Of course no one was readdy for him, so it was like a circus in my room. They didn't expect him to come 20 minutes from the time somethings tarted on the monitor. But he was almost 2 weeks late.

And I have a friend who called her midwife when she felt her first contraction, and the midwife said she would be there in 30 minutes. Well ,about 15 mnutes after the call, the husband delievered the baby on his own in the hours. The midwife showed up and just had to take care of the placenta and cutting the cord.

I can't, but my mom can! She woke up the day I was born and got ready for her OB/GYN appointment. The car wouldn't start (darn 1972 VW Bug) and she was too pregnant to fit behind the wheel, so my dad steered the car while she push-started the car! They finally got it rolling with the engine started so she ran to jump in. They made it to the doctor's office 1 hour later (they lived in the boondocks), and was informed that the doctor was over at the hospital, and she might as well go over there for her exam since she drove all that way. So my parents headed over there to go find the doctor so she could have her exam and go home. My dad went to get sandwiches for lunch. Finally, a nurse came in and said that the doctor had been called into a c-section, but that she (the nurse) would just do the exam so my mom could be on her way. They do the exam and my mom is at 9cm! She had NO idea she was in labor! So naturally they rush her into L&D. My dad came back (with the sandwiches) just in time to see me being born a few minutes later! From the time the nurse informed her she was in labor, until I was born, was less than 30 minutes.

Naturally I expected that for my deliveries, but I was in labor 14 hours and 6 hours... no such luck for me! =)

I think I gotcha beat, LOL. I'll start with my first. On the day of his birth I was cramping and then my water broke at 9:45 a.m. so I got to the hospital and they had that pain moniter on me and the nurse was asking me questions. So she looks at the moniter and says "OMG your pain is that high and you're still talking to me?!" I guess I have a high tolerance for pain. He was born at 11:15 after the nurses were frantically calling for the doctor to come into the room.
With my first daughter my water broke at 11 p.m. so I went to the hospital and was basically contracting all night long. Finally as I was progressing as I was pushing the doctor says "keep pushing, I'll be right back" He must have thought I was gonna be a while but my daughter came out right away, it was only me, my dh, and the nurse in the room. She was born at 9:15 a.m.
With my second daughter my water broke close to midnight so I went in, even though the doc on duty told me it would probably be OK if I slept through the night and went in in the morning. I know better. When I got there I was dialated to 4 so they kept me in triage but then my contractions started getting a lot worse so my dh called the nurse into the room, she checked me and I was dilated to 9. They had to rush me up to the birthing room and the nurses were again, trying to call the doctor in and telling me "please don't push honey, we can deliver babies but we don't get paid to!" The doctor came just in time and she was born about 1:15 in the morning.
I think with each one I pushed no more than 10 minutes! But mine came earlier than yours 37, 36, and 37 weeks. No epi or pain meds either.

Think I gotcha beat too. :) I had actually had a doc appt. that day but for some reason they didn't check me vaginally. Well I went home and about 3:30 my water broke. So I called my boyfriend and he came home. He asked if I was ok, I was actually. No contractions, nothing. So he took a shower and I packed a bag. Then we drove the 10 minutes to the hospital. I was checking in and got really hot, still no contractions though. Got taken to a room and changed then I felt like I had to pee but couldn't. Got up and thats when a contraction hit me. My boyfriend kinda panicked and went to get a nurse. I guess they thought I'd had more time cause I didn't look to be in active labor and this was my first pregnancy/delivery which I've heard can take HOURS. So they checked me and she was crowning. Four pushes later, she was out! It's funny cause the doctor that watched me deliver couldn't help cause his arm was broke! The nurses did all the work. They said if he hadn't happened to be on the floor that there would've been no doc at all present for me. I didn't even have time to get hooked up to all the monitors and stuff. So when my sister had hers she was like "didn't you get an iv?" Um, nope! So total time for me was an hour. The only thing I would've changed is that I called my mom right when my water broke. Our plan was to get into a room and then call cause everyone had told me I'd be in labor for hours so I thought we had the time. So my mom missed her grandbaby's birth and that bums me out a bit. Mom was bummed too but she got over it quick!

Got you beat sister! First kid, 1 hour of hard labor, one push he was out, second kid, 45 minutes labor, 1 push, and he was out, third kid, 45 minutes labor, 1 push and she was out. All three were 7+ days early, they were all planned inductions but only the first one was actually induced. As soon as I showed up at the hospital I went into labor with the other two.

Now, pregnant again, praying the good Lord will bless me with another quick labor and that I do not have her in the car on the way. Let's consider ourselves lucky, our bodies were made for the quick route. = )

Congrats on your first.

ya it can be crazy how fast they come. My first was...contractions started at 9:30 and they hit hard, 10:40 I was at the hospital screaming for help...lol it was my first and they took their time. My 11:30 they finally got me down and checked me because I about slapped the nurse in the face I was in so much pain I was 7cm with a "bulding bag of water" 12:11 lunch time my daughter was born after just 2 pushes. I remember my husband say and this was after the doctor did an epeisotomy and had turned to put the tool down "UMM catch" lol she came out so fast that's what he could say...too funny.

My third was much longer but not bad 7 hrs but he got stuck coming out. and my third was started at 8 am and I had her at 10:51 am after again two pushes...actually now that I think about it...even my son who got stuck I only pushed 4 times lol...the benefits of not having any pain meds I guess.

Baby #1 was only 3 hrs and #2 was 4 hours...no drugs for any. I felt very fortunate!

I think I might have you beat - October 28th my husband was going out of town. At 5am I woke up feeling sick and called him on his cell and told him I wasn't feeling good could he come back. Baby wasnt due till Nov. 5th. He did come back home and our oldest son who was 7years old at the time (is adopted, we didn't think we could get pregnant after 7 years of infertility) taht to go to school. Anyway, he took me to the hospital so that they could see what was going on and the nurse said I was having small contractions, but my blood pressure was very high so they admitted me. Long story short, NOTHING happened all day - 10:00 pm on the nose my water broke and at 10:32 pm he was born. All they kept asking me was IS THIS REALLY YOUR FIRST CHILD.

Baby #2: Had a doc appt at 4 in the afternoon, they told me I was already in labor and that he would probably see me in the morning. So. we went to Sizzler and I ate a giant plate of Malibu Chicken went home, soaked in the tub, shaved my legs and went to bed. Woke up at about 6am feeling labor, so we got dressed and drove to the hospital by 8. Son was born at 10-ish after they broke my water upon arrival. Very simple, and we left the next morning. And that was the good ol days when they snipped your boy before you left.

I have a friend that can. Her first child took a total of 1hour and 15 minutes from first contraction (didn't even really hurt) to delivery. Her second child, she delivered in the car on the way to the hospital, and they live in a major metro area.

The hospital had to lay her seat down, and slide her out the back door onto the bed-thing, because they wanted to get her inside before cutting the ambilical cord. The guess is it took about 20 minutes for her second.

I walked around 3 cm dilated for weeks, then did 15.5 hours of induced labor, and an emergency c-section with my daughter. My son was a scheduled c-section.

I was 38 weeks pregnant with baby #1. We spent the afternoon at Lowe's picking out colors to paint the nursery. That evening we were just wrapping up putting the finishing touches on the nursery. I went to lay down on the couch and watch some TV. My water broke at 1030 PM. Called the doc, who said to head over to the hospital. I still had to pack my hospital bag! Got to the hospital (which was 30 mins away) and up to the L&D unit. Nurses checked me, I was 7 cm dilated. Walked me across the hall to the birthing room, checked me again, I was 10 cm and PUSHING! My daughter was born at 1202 AM...delivered by the nurse! My doc came walking in a short while later with the biggest look of surprise on his face and said "Are you sure this is your first one?!?!" 1 hour 32 minutes.

With baby #2, I tested positive for Group B strep, so I knew I had to go in to the hospital for the anitbiotic prior to delivery. Called my doc the night I *thought* I might be going into labor (didn't want to wait too long, knowing my previous quick history). Got to the hospital, had some irregular contractions, was already starting to dilate, so they kept me and started the antibiotic. 4 hours later the doc came in to check me again and start the 2nd round of anitbiotic. He told me he would break my water to try and get something going. At 515 AM he broke my water. He no sooner walked out of the room, when I sent my husband running after him to tell him that I needed to push. My daughter was born at 524 AM. 9 mins of *hard* labor.

Baby #3 was my stinker. I labored on & off (at home) for 24 hours. My contractions never got closer than closer than 5 mins apart (average was 7-8 mins). So, of course the doc wanted to break my water to get something going. He broke my water at 415 PM, when I was 4/5 cm. My son was born at 501 PM. 46 mins of *hard* labor.
