three weeks ago I brought my son into walk-in becuase he broke out in hives, he was on a round of antibiotics at the time, he had hives all over and one strange circular spot. Doctor said he was most likely reacting to the medecine, took him off hives went away, this round spot on his leg still has not gone, did some looking into it..."Yes! I Googled" lol anyhow it is very, very much like ringworm. Remember my past I remember having a bout of this when I was in my teens, my mom never brought me into the doctor I never took anything(due to no insurance) anyhow I know it went away, since I obviosuly don't have it now. I am not a medecine fan at all and would prefer not to be giving my son anti-fungal stuff, anyone been throught this and chose not to treat? I will be taking him in later this week for his apointment but wanted to hear from others. I am thinking this came from contact with swimming.

My husband's doctor told us to treat ringworm with athlete's foot cream that you get at the drugstore. We used the store brand and it went away.
Ringworm has to be treated-or it will spread-not pretty--and it's very contagious.
Make sure it is ringworm. Since you are practicing medicine by Google, (No offense, even as an RN I do it frequently) Google Numular Eczema.
I was treated as a child for several years by docs for ringworm, until my mom finally took me to a dermatologist. They look very similar! Even as an adult 40+ years later, I still sometimes get little patches on my legs especially in winter.
Its highly contagious and treatable with antifungal cream, really no need for a dr visit.
I live on a farm so I catch ring worm from the cows fairly often (Once a year or every other year). I rub hydrogen peroxide over it twice a day. Not sure if it makes it go away any faster though because it still takes a week or so to go away.
looks like you got your answers, hope so anyway, but i think tea tree oil might work. it has a potent smell, but just as potent is it's efficiency to clear weird things up - fever blisters, ringworms, psoriasis (sp) - y'know just weird stuff. my mom swore by it and i use it sometimes, too. good luck! i freakin' hate ringworms, yuck! :)
My teenage son came home last year and said he had it. I didn't even know what it was. His friend from school recognized it. I went to the Target pharmacy and they told me what cream to buy and how to use it. He did and it went away. There is a cream (over the counter) that is specifically for it. Not sure if it's the same as the one mentioned for athlete's feet below. But he had to keep it covered and keep medicine on it. Cleared up quickly!
Contact dermatitis, allergies, and eczema can look a lot like ringworm. My daughter has a non-allergic reaction to latex that looks exactly like ringworm. It only occurs in combination with water. You mentioned swimming. My daughter's swimsuit breaks her out as does the rubberized bath mat in the bathtub. Anyway, check with the doctor or see a dermatologist or allergist. Good luck!
