Hey everyone! I want to treat my 15 year old daughter to highlights and a hair cut before school starts, but I am low in funds. I was thinking of taking her to the Ogle School. They offer services at a fraction of the cost of other salons. I just wondered if anyone has had experience with Ogle, and if it is worth the savings.

So What Happened?

I guess I spoke a little too soon before on the update. I took my daughter to the Ogle School in Hurst. Everyone was so nice. We absolutely love the color...they did a great job there! However, because the stylist was in a hurry to get her out so she could go to work, the "trim" was horrible. He took too much off and it was uneven. My daughter's hair is layered, but he didn't even trim the layers, only the bottom, and it is very obvious. I have to take her back, or somewhere else, to get it fixed. I knew it would take a couple of hourse, but had no idea it would take 4 hours. We will know for next time to allow for plenty of time.
I still think we will use them in the future. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Talk to you later!

I took my 15 yr. old daughter there yesterday, and got her hair highlighted. We had a great experience and right know they have 20% off hair coloring special for back to school students. We were very pleased with her hair and the price. Also, we did had a level 1 student, but she had 2 other level 3 helping her and watching her the entire time.

I went to school at Ogle. Make sure you ask for a senior student but to be honest they are all pretty good. There are several instructors that walk the floor that help out the students of all levels. Another place you could try is the Tony and Guy school in Carrollton. They make their students specialize in the fields so they are going to have a lot more experience in certain things if that makes you feel more comfortable. Once you start going to and get a senior student they will give you another name of a student to go to after they graduate. They do that at all schools just ask. Goodluck!

Hi N.!

I have been there before and it's really luck of the draw. However, I have a friend that does it out of her home and she's awesome! And on top of that she charges practically nothing...She has completely transformed her spare bedroom into a salon and has has her license for about 5 yrs. If ur interested e-mail me @ ____@____.com luck!

My daughter and I have both been to the Ogle School off Bryant Irvin in SW Forth Worth and LOVED it! We had two different students and they both did a great job. My daughter's highlight and cut was $24 and my touch up and cut was $26. One thing, bring cash for a tip as they do not accept additional on a credit card or checks for tips.

I've been to the Paul Mitchell salon in Addison/Midway Rd area. It's been good.

My daughter just graduated from Ogle. You can probably request a "senior" student. Keep in mind that they have instructors on the floor supervising the students as well in case you have any concerns. Not long after my daughter went to the floor, she had me be a model, so she could "practice" a certain cut, and her instructor was right there answering/showing any questions she had. You can probably also ask for a student that is good with color. My daughter loves doing color....that's her goal, to be a Color Specialist. Good luck!

I have gotten highlights at Ogle in Arlington before. She did a great job. It does take a little longer (which I love). I have gotten haircuts, eyebrows shaped, a pedicure, and waxing done there. If you are at all worried, ask for an advanced student. I never have and the worst thing that has ever happened to me is that it took a while.

Have fun!

Hi N.,

My daughter and I have used Ogle in Hurst for Highlights, lowlights, cuts, and/ or just plain color. I have always liked the outcome and the price. Just plan on making a first thing in the morning appt. because they take a while. And...they can't stay to finish your hair even if they are not done.

I love using Ogle! They are very good, and there are professional teachers there to make sure everything is going as it should be. It usually takes 2-4 hours depending on length of hair, and what you want done. I think it's worth the price. I want to say the last time I got my hair cut and colored there it was about $55!!!

Ogle is very good - if you call for an appt - be sure and ask for a Sr. student - and remember they are being supervised by the instructors at all times.

Just a word of caution I took my daughter and myself to Paul Mitchell school where they offered highlights and hair cut for $35 - $45.. and we ended up paying more then $100 on our hair each thank God we had the money available and it took the students more then 4 hours on our hair it was the worse experience we had with a reputable school and when i started to argue they said sorry they used this dye and that dye and u have to understand they are just students learning...
