Striderite has never done us wrong!
They have PreWalkers.
Umi's are nice too, for when they're just starting out.

Robeez. Hands down. I've used the inexpensive ones, and they tend to get holes in them in one location or another. But I've used the same Robeez for two of my kids, and I may use them for another, too... Still have them, and they're still in great shape!

I am pretty sure Pediped was the brand of my son's first shoes. Flexible and cute - he loved them!

I tried many regular store brands , disliked all of them. I had posted a question here as I wasn't sure where else I can buy really comfortable and flexible shoes for my baby . When they are beginning to walk , it's very important they wear the right shoes. I bought StrideRite shoes based on recommendations from moms , and love it. My son loves it as well. They are kinda pricey but so worth it for M. because my son is wearing his shoes all day at daycare. They had a sale when I bought it. I recently received a 20% off coupon by email. So maybe you can look for those coupons.HTH!

We always went to Stride Rite.
But I'm sure you know that bare feet or grippy socks are actually best for new walkers, right?

Rileyroos. You can find them online at rileyroos.com. Great styles and very comfortable. They are basically the same as pedipeds.

No sneakers with such chunky soles that you can't hold them between your thumb and finger and flex it. Stride rite shoes have different stages of shoes for each stage of walking progress and size. I don't know if they still do, but they used to come in 6 widths, so when fit properly they last the longest because of the high, square toe box it ensures that chunky square baby feet don't outgrow them ASAP like shoes that narrow down in the front. Leather is cooler...it is a natural "skin", has pores and breathes, absorbs moisture and dries quickly. Can you tell?....I used to manage a family owned 5th generation family/children's shoe store! :-)

Pediped - hands down (ok - feet down). Pricey but worth it, and super-cute styles.

Robeez or similar for the really soft leather sole. DD wore them all the time, they're almost like glorified slippers. Stride Rite also makes flexible shoes and I've seen them occasionally at Babies R Us and Target, too. Just make sure that the sole does flex for new walkers.

Any soft, sturdy leather with a good sole for outside (I always liked stride rite) and bare feet while inside!

I can't remember the name of them, but at Target, they sell the little leather shoes with the suede sole - those were the best at first!

Here it is, Ministar, and they are only $15:
