Frustrated! Shopping for Maternity Swimsuit...

So here is my predicament-I am 26 weeks pregnant. I was pre-pregnancy size 4, and wore a 34 D. I am now up to a 36/38G, but haven't gained much weight anywhere else. Where can I find a maternity bathing suit to fit me up top? A one-piece is pretty much out of the question because in order to get it to fit up top, it won't fit in the bottom. Everything two piece top seems to be too small in the bust. I have looked at Motherhood, Figleaves, Target, Old Navy, etc. I am getting pretty desperate- We are heading to the beach on Memorial Day weekend and I want to be able to get in the water with my son. :( I can't believe am the only pregnant person in the world with this size issue.
Thanks for your suggestions!

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great advice. I ordered a DDD top from Land's End, on the overstock site, for $5.99. This will be an awesome deal if it fits. Keep your fingers crossed for me! :)

If you're not that big in the belly then you may be able to get away with a 2 piece. But instead of trying to buy a matching set, why not try separates? You may be able to get bottoms that would go under any tummy you may have and then get the top in a size you need to fit. It becomes less of an issue that way. You may even be able to stay away from a maternity suit entirely.
Good luck!

I also love Landsend. Check on their wesite, on the top right corner go to the overstocks, and the prices are GREAT! Full price, they are quite expensive, but I always find things on the overstocks! I would suggest just sizing up 2 sizes and get long torso and the DD cup, and you should be good!

I am with Denise P on this one. Lands End.

They do not sell maternity suits, but if you are not too big in the belly yet, you could probably use their suits. They sell one piece suits that you order your size in the suit, and your bra size. For example, you might order a size 4 or 6 with a DD or DDD bra. And if you got a tankini, you could easily use it through the summer. They sell tops that have all different kinds of options, from short to long torso (the long torso might be good for a maternity suit), underwires, no underwires, and they sell tops that go up to DDD. I know you said you are a G, but bear in mind that these Lands End suits run BIG. By their measurement chart, I needed a 14 DD suit. In clothing, I am usually a 12 or 14, and my bra size is 36 DD. I had to go down to a 12 C for a proper fit. So you could very well do fine with the DD or DDD top. These suits aren't cheap, but they're not super expensive either... and if you're desperate, I'm guessing you don't care that much. The other nice thing is that if you order the wrong size, you can return at a Sears store, and they don't charge you shipping on ordering a different size of the same item.

Good luck!

Gap online sell maternity wear so try that , also if your slim all over but with a bump I would go for a bikini top rather than a tankini , being a size 4 I'll bet you look great!

I am 23 weeks pregnant, and I just went swimming with my two boys last week. I wore regular swimsuit bottoms that I bought last year from
Target, and I wore my maternity swimsuit top from there, too. I always have to buy two separate sizes for tops and bottoms, and when I go to the stores, I can do that. Sometimes you can online, and sometimes you can't.
Good luck!

Just go buy a regular swim suit. I wore a two piece with my son, up until the week he was born!

Well if you are only 26 weeks your tummy probably is getting nice and round but not huge. With that said you should look into Victoria's Secret Tankinis. If you go on line they have a section that is for large busted girls. My sister is skinny but wears a 36 DD so that is where she gets her bikinis. They are cute and give lots of support for girls like you. If you got a Tankini top that fit your chest I bet it would cover your tummy too. Plus for the bottoms you can mix and match so you could get a larger size, more coverage bottom.

Maybe look somewhere like Lane Bryant for a solid color top and then find cute bottoms to match at another store like target or JC Penny that has bathing suit separates. I would also bet Victoria's secret will have larger size mix & match tops and coordinating bottoms. Check them out on-line too.

I wore a 2 piece when I was pregnant because I have never nor will I ever be a one piece mama lol.

Try sears and JCPenney.
They have some stuff.

If you can't find anything get a pair of shorts and a tank top.
That way you don't have to miss out on the fun.

Have a safe and fun time.

Have you considered shopping for non-maternity 2-pieces? This worked great for me, and I never found maternity suits fit very well. Many catalogs even let you order tops and bottoms separately (Lands End). I let the bottoms go under my belly. Any if you don't want your belly showing, find a cute tank top or racer-back top to go over the swim suit. Best of luck!
