From Infant Tub to Bath Seat?

I have a 6month old who is growing out of his infant tub. He wants to sit up in it, and it's not made that way. I was looking at the few bath seats that are on the market. I was looking at the safety 1st tubside bath seat. Any comments on it? I wanted to get some advice from you experienced moms before I bought one.

What can I do next?

My 11 month old has this seat and we love it. I have a large jet tub and the armrest fits on mine because there is a handle that you squeeze to adjust the width. It is nice because it swivels and he can move around and reach his toys. He thinks he is a big boy like his big brothers!

We used (and LOVED) a rubber blow up tub that fit snuggly inside our regular bath tub. We loved the safety of our daughter being in something smaller, as well as hitting a soft cushiony side instead of the hard tub if she slipped. And she loved the freedom of not using a chair of any sort. They are also cheaper than any chair I have seen, we got ours for $14.95 at Target. They also have them that look like large rubber duckies that they sit in.

Just put him in the kitchen sink. It's easy and you don't have to bend over either!

I have an 18 month old and she loves the seat! Enjoys bathtime so much more once she got to sit up! I had one years ago for my daughter who is now 6 and she loved hers too. The only thing I don't like is the arm rest for the adult, it gets in the way for me and if you have shower doors it is a real pain but other that that is a great investment and my daughter loves it!

I had a friend who used a laundry basket in the bathtub and it worked awesome for her son. It kept all the toys in front of him and gave him a non-slippery surface to sit on. I'm expecting my second child soon and will be giving this a try myself (when he's ready)!

Hi L.,
I have these seat too, and while my 6 month old really likes it because he can really splash his little arms, what I don't like about it is that the edging is a little rough around the legs and there are no pads on it for the baby to lean on when they are leaning forward. My little guys arms and chest turn red when he leans forward on it to splash around. I try to put washcloths between him and the front of the seat, but he moves so much they often fall off. That's my only complaint about the Safety 1st seat.

The part that hooks over the tub was not wide enough to go over the tub- so we had to twist it around behind him to sit in the tub with him, but it worked wonderfully at keeping him upright.

I tried the bath "seat" once and didn't like it. I got a mesh bath thingy that goes in the bath tub. You only fill the bath tub up a few inches or so and as they get bigger they can sit up in it. But it's especially made for infants. Once they can sit up on their own, you can put them straight into the bathtub with just a few inches of water to where if you lay them down, water won't be covering their face. It's easier than having to take them out of the "seat" to bathe them and they learn to sit on their own and develop their muscles!

We got a rubber foot mat to put in the bottom of the big tub to put our kids on. My son will not stay put in the tub so anything I put him in will be useless...he seems to really like the tub and the freedom is good. I just have to watch him close, but I would do that anyways. Hope this helps

If he is sitting up well, just put a rubber mat in the bottom of the tub. Much easier and maybe less expensive.

I bought the safety first seat .. I love it. It has to be used with a regular tub though not a large jet tub... it has a arm on the chair that slides over the edge of the tub... there is no way that a baby can really tip it over.. The seat also swivels which is nice. You can wash one side and then swivel the baby over and wash the other side. I would recommend it.
