OK Mama's I need some ideas. My almost 10mo DD will not eat anything that has to be fed to her. I need ideas on what to feed her for healthy filling finger foods. She will not eat veggies. When she is able to eat what the rest of us do that is ok but everything I can think of is so messy or needs more teeth. She only has 3 teeth to date so it can't be anything too chewy and please easy things as I am never seem to have enough time at nights to get meals cooked, kiddos fed, bathed and into bed!

What can I do next?

Keep offering the veggies. She will learn to like them. Sweet potatoes are a good starting point, very good for her plus the sweetness appeals to children. keep offering cooked carrots, beans, peas etc. One way to help entice her to eat carrots would be to cook them with some apples or in apple juice. The sweetness of the apples will absorb into the carrots & make them more appealing. Brown rice is good to. To add a little more to it you could make a basic fried rice with egg & a few peas and carrot so she has the protien & the veggies again placed before her. It my take some time but the more you offer them to her the more likely she will start to eat & enjoy them. The sooner she starts to eat veggies the easier it will be to keep her eating them as she gets older.

Good luck!

I know you said she will not eat veggies, but keep trying... Get the bag of frozen mixed veggies (pease, carrots, corn, green beans) and heat a handful up in the microwave every night. Put in a little water and cook for about a minute. Its so easy and cheap, you dont get mad when they dont eat. Keep giving her a chance to eat them. She may eventually decide she likes them. My kids both liked the novelty of feeding themselves so much they would eat and eat those mixed veggies.

Also:
deli meats
cheese
bread (plain or with jelly)
mandarin oranges
tortillas (plain or with hummus or cheese)
banana
blueberries
little dole fruit cups
baked beans
mac n cheese
other pasta
rice
baked squash (acorn or butternut)
cheerios
raisins, craisins
lentils

Puffs, yogurt melts, and other assorted gerber snacks, etc.

Even with just a couple of teeth, I think she can try most things, just cut into small pieces. I gave my kids EVERYTHING and let them try it. They key for me was not to invest too much extra time or money into their food because I didnt want to be mad at them if they didnt eat it.

My almost 11 month old pretty much eats what we are eating. Whole grain bread with butter or cream cheese and jelly, all kinds of cheese, cottage cheese, any kind of fruit, naked chicken nuggets, roasted chicken, pasta, rice. Of course she is messy but that's part of having a toddler that feeds herself.

My daughter is also 10mos & I just started finger foods. I have a huge fear of my kids choking, so I kind of put it off for that reason. Anyways, some of her favorites are:
toast
bananas
apples (I boil them to soften them a bit)
saltine crackers
It's not a big list because we are just starting, but those are some of her favorites!

Finger foods can be just about anything...just cut it up. Sure, it is messy but you're going to give her a bath after dinner anyway.

Gerber has a line of "Pasta Pick Ups". My daughter loved them and they are very soft. Bananas also was one of her faves, just dice them up. Also she ate alot of fruit cups, alot of them now are packaged in juice instead of syrup. Cheese, grilled cheese, cheerios that have soaked in milk, pancakes, macaroni and cheese.

keep giving her veggies anyway.
But here is what my 10 month old son eats he has 3 teeth. They don't need teeth to chew. They will mash with their gums.
pears
strawberries
blueberries
grapes (cut up)
grated apple
bananas
pineapple
cherry tomatoes
peas
corn
big pieces of steamed carrots, sweet potatoes
broccoli
creamed spinach
dr pragers broccoli nuggets, sweet potato nuggets
cauliflower
fish fingers
egg yolk
meatballs (no sauce)
ravioli
tortolini
mac n cheese
torn up tortillas
quesadillas
whole wheat pita
whole wheat toast
cheese (all kinds)
canned beans
I guess I dont really worry about the mess. I have a big splat mat under seat. I make dinner for everyone and make sure there is something he will eat that we are eating too.

My 11 month DD doesn't care much for veggies either... But she LOVES veggie soups! Minestrone is her favorite. She only has 2 1/2 teeth. I can make the soup, drain it, and she will eat the pieces on her own. She loves the beans in it even. (At first I was worried that the texture would bother her, or the 'skin' would choke her up, or get gas pains... but she does just fine.)

I haven't read the other answers because I didn't want my ideas to be changed by reading other responses. Sorry if I'm repeating!

I've found that my kids can eat a lot with very few teeth! And that some foods I wouldn't consider "finger foods" really work well as such. Some of their favorites when they were that age were:

Noodles (with butter or olive oil, or even plain)
toast squares (with butter or cream cheese)
fried egg cut up into squares (we fed eggs a bit early, as there was no history of egg allergies on either side)
toaster waffle or pancake cut up small
chopped strawberries, pears, peaches, etc (canned work well)
canned beans (rinse them off well!)
turkey lunchmeat, cut up
whatever we were eating, just cut up smaller
cheese cubes
diced or shredded chicken breast
bagels, toasted or with butter

I hope this helps!

Fruit (canned; boil or bake to soften fresh fruits)
nutrigrain bars
french toast sticks (get them in the freezer at the grocery store)
crackers
cheese sticks
whole grain cheese rollups (whole grain tortilla with cheese inside, microwave for 20 seconds or so, roll up)
turkey or ham slices

Actually, Gerber has a new line for preschoolers that have some excellent finger foods. They have some cereal bars that are soft like nutrigrain bars, they have fruit sticks which are basically healthy fruit snacks, and some other stuff, and they are made with all natural ingredients, no preservatives, lower in calories, and perfect portion sizes. I love giving those to my now four-year-old because she refuses to eat anything!

I make cheese quesadilla's with soft tortilla shells on the stove and cut it into 1/4 sections. Very easy to pick up with no mess. I use low-fat cheese, and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter to grill it with. I'll sprinkle some flax seed on it before grilling and also puree some squash which has no taste and blends in with the cheese and voila! Sometimes I'll puree carrots, but you have to go easy on that because they have a stronger taste.

Also, you can roll the shells and pop them in to the oven if you don't want to grill them.

Also check out this book. Lots of great ideas!
