I am just curious as to what some of your favorite children's books are. I really like "The Moon Shines Down" by Margaret Wise Brown. I could use some new book ideas to read to my daughter.

What can I do next?

When my boys were young, some of their favorites were the Mercer Mayer series. Me and My Mom, Me and My Dad, Just go to Bed, etc. There is a whole series and they deal with a little critter who has experiences like real kids. Humorous and sweet, and not too long, for those with shorter attention spans, :-)

There are so many!
Tikki Tikki Tembo is good as Dawi mentions, as are several of the Mo Willems book (we just borrowed the following from the library: Knuffle Bunny; Naked Mole Rat).
The Delores series by Barbara Samuels is excellent (Delores & Faye; Delores on her Toes; Delores & Duncan).
The dinosaur books (How do dinosaurs say goodnight?, for e.g.) by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague are very nice.
Curious George and The Berenstain Bears (there is a large series for each) are dated, but my kids (2.5, 5) really enjoy them.
Harold and the Purple Crayon (Crockett Johnson) - there is a series but this is by far the best.
On a recent visit to the NE Aquarium, my husband picked up the Pout Pout Fish (Deborah Diesen and Dan Hanna), which has a lovely rhythm - it looks like there are others in this series, but we've only read the one.
Madeline (Ludwig Bemelmans)
The Jungle Book (Rudyard Kipling)
Charlie & Lola books (Lauren Child)
Fancy Nancy books (Jane O'connor & Robin Preiss Glasser)

I know you already have a ton of great suggestions but I wanted to post one more that we just love. My 4 year old and 21 month old both love the Little Pea, Little Hoot, and Little Oink books. The 3 books come in a box and are thick board books that are fun to read and are enjoyed by the kids and adults. We got a set for our friends as well because we love them so much. They are by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and are $13.59 on amazon.com for all 3. Here's the link:

You don't mention how old your daughter is, but I love anything of Margaret Wise Brown's. She was a amazing writer for very small children. See if you can find more of her books in the library, and be sure to read them out loud!
