Hi ladies, I just recently got insurance (yippee) and its united healthcare. I have had stomach issues all my life (severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, constipation) ya know! Well I recently took a thyroid and hormone evaluation and failed both. I want to get in and get some blood work, that kind of thing but I have no clue where to go! I would prefer a woman but it doesn't matter. Do you have a doc in grand prairie or arlington you would recommend? Im making my husband go too since he's never even had blood drawn before! So, we gotta have a nice gentle one!
TIA

Your symptoms sound like a possible gluten sensitivity or a gallbladder problem. Regarding your severe stomach cramps - when this happens, does your stomach "burn?" If so, it is most likely a gall bladder issue (my friend had to have hers removed). Otherwise, it can be a gluten problem. Have bloodwork done for a gluten sensitivity and Celiac Sprue. If it comes back negative, have a stool analysis (www.enterolab.com), b/c it's common to have a false negative. Glad you had your thyroid and hormones checked (they should have checked your estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, FH, and DHEA). Doctors are very quick to say IBS. I suppose you can have IBS, but I think it's more. Google symptoms of gluten sensitivity in women and you will have many. Good luck trying to figure this out! I am trying to figure things out for myself, too. Good luck finding a doctor!

It sounds like IBS which also can cause Gluten sensitivity.. I had the severe cramping, bloating, etc.. since I was preg with my oldest, he's 20 now. I was finally diagnosed with IBS in June 2009 after bloodwork and a endoscopy, colonoscopy.. I hope this helps. I would google signs and symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome and see if that helps. You need to find a GI doctor. Good luck and hope this helps. I know exactly how you feel.

I have been going to Dr. Judith Werner for almost a year and am very pleased with her. She actually listens to me and DISCUSSES my concerns and answers my questions. She will give you the pros and cons of tests and medications, too. She is in Mansfield next to Mansfield Methodist Hospital on Broad St. at Matlock. (not far from the Arlington line at all.) She also has referred me out to other drs. Good luck.
