Early Complications -- 9 Weeks and Spotting

Have been struggling over whether to ask this question, it's personal and I know that only time will be able to tell, but here goes: I've been spotting since Sunday, just the pinky brown variety, until yesterday when the mild cramps i've been having since getting pregnant turned to what felt like mild labor pains (much stronger than regular cramping and yet not so unpleasant that icouldn't deal with it), i layed down for 2 hrs and the cramping stopped. When i got up, i got a good tissue-full (but not soaked) of red w/ some bits on it. SORRY if this is to gross for you, but the details are, i think, necessary.... This morning there was some more dark pink w/ a larger clot, but since then, hardly anything except the cramps are still here. ANytime i go potty there's a little bit of brown on tissue but not red or pink at all. And with every pad, there's never been more than the size of a quarter on it after 8 hrs or so, and it's never red... But the cramps, oh the cramps...

Went to draw blood today to check Hcg's, don't get results until tomorrow, which at that time i'll know better. This is after talking to my doctor 3x now about this, and this is what she has to say -- if you are not soaking a pad every hour, if you are having an m/c, this is just how it goes, you can come in for an ultrasound if you want, but either way i've got a dr appointment in 2 days so i thought i'd just wait -- it's hard enough to get childcare, and i do have it set up for that appointment.

My question is, has anyone else gone thru this and carried to term? I've previously had a m/c (very bad scene, hemmoraging and pain), and a baby where i'd spotted for 10 days just pink/brown, not a lot of cramping tho.

I've never had a bad pregnancy where there was a lot of sick or crampy feelings. Is it possible to just be having a crampy pregnancy?

I know that everybody's experiences are different, but since i've never had a "sick" pregnancy, i'm wondering if this is what it feels like. I'm hoping, really, that it's just something i'll have to deal w/ for next 8 months :) Be happy to know what others felt who have had a rough ride during pregnancy, were there cramps like a very bad period? at this point, i'm guessing i'm having an m/c, but w/o the red, i don't know... Thanks to all who take the time to answer :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well no sooner did my hopes rise that they fell, started the bleed, in earnest, at 2 pm, unpleasant and same as my last m/c, which leads us to the ER in about 3 hrs if it does go the same. Ugh. ANyway, thanks you guys, love you for your support and help! N

Hi Nancy~
Your mind has to be racing right about now. I'm not a doctor so I don't have an answer for you, but I can tell you about my experiences. I had 2 "sick" pregnancies and neither of them involved cramping. I was just extremely sick to my stomach, not being able to eat, and vomiting to the point that I was put on medication. I also had a miscarriage in the beginning of the 2nd trimester. It began with some spotting and eventually mild cramping. I had noticed that I felt some very mild cramping a week earlier, but it disappeared and I thought nothing of it. When there was just spotting I didn't jump to conclusions - I have heard of many women having some spotting. But when the cramps began I knew something was wrong. I would suggest that you call your ob/gyn and ask to come in. No matter what results you need to at least ease your mind right now. I wish only the best for you~you'll be in my thoughts.

With my now 9 month old, I had heavy bleeding and some cramping. I thought for sure I was having a miscarriage, as when I sat down to pee at one point, the entire toilet bowl water was bright red and full of clots. All three of my kids were conceived with the fertility doc, and I was able to go in the next day and see his tiny heart beating just fine. I had to conceive with my fertility doc because I had two m/c's so I was amazed that he was fine, because I was convinced he wasn't and had already mentally prepared. So, bleeding and cramping CAN turn out alright. Just wait for your numbers to come back, and try not to worry.

Wishing you all the best!

I had bleeding in my pregnancy with my son until about 14 weeks. Lots of cramps, and sometimes the cramps didn't start but the bleeding would. I was on bedrest until about 14 weeks. Then finally the bleeding stopped. I went to the doctor every time the bleeding started back again. I would be laid up for two days have the bleeding stop for a day and then it would start again.

I hope that you don't miscarry, but remember that most miscarriages in the first trimester are due to things that are not your fault. I will keep you in my prayers.
