Hello Everyone,

I will be traveling with my kids in a few weeks and want to buy earphones for my 5 year old so she can watch movies on the plane. I bought her some last year, but they don't seem to fit her head well and continually fell off. Does anyone know of a good comfortable pair of adjustable earphones for kids?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Our school puts earphones on the supply list every year and they tell us to buy them at the dollar store. They seem to work fine, and if you get done with the trip and they only work for the length of the trip, you're out a dollar. No way I would ever spend $70 for a pair of kids' headphones. But that's me.

We have these:

and they work great! BTW If you have more than one kid, you may also want to buy an earphone splitter on amazon. It allows 2 sets of headphones to plug into one device. Good luck!

They make a lot of different styles. If you're using the ear cover styles so kiddo doesn't have to keep something inside his ear then it will be a lot more comfortable for him in the long run. These are usually adjustable over the head and squish together to make the head band part smaller. Then the ear cover part just fits against their head.

I haven't found any of these that aren't adequate.

We have simple, inexpensive ones made by JVC. We bought them at Best Buy. My 3 year old and 7 year old both use them with no problem.

Whatever you do, don't get ear buds. My kids hate them (and so do I).

look for noise cancelling earphones. I'll try to find you a link later. Noise cancelling are the best for airplanes.

Bose sells them for $300. You do not have to pay that much for them. Do a search on Amazon and read the reviews. My sister has a Bose version. Years ago, my husband purchased a brand for about $70. Do not buy Bose. It's just a fancy label slapped on headphones IMO.

Ear "buds" are harder for young kids to use and put in their ear properly.
You can opt to get the kind of ear phones that are bigger. Which is easier to use.

BUT with young kids, they do not know how... to calibrate the "volume" on their gadget properly, and often times they make the volume too, loud, from their ear phones. Hence, it is bad for their ears/hearing in the long term and will affect their hearing in the long term.
With my son who is 7, we don't allow him to use ear phones, because: he tends to make the volume on his Nook, too, loud. Even if he does not intend to. I can hear it, even if he had ear phones on.
So, he just watches movies without, ear phones. Which is good enough.

Just Google search "ear phones for kids."

And, it also depends on how much you want to spend.
