Luvs diapers are sooo much cheaper than Huggies or Pampers, so I am wondering if any of you have used them with your babies, and if you like them? It would be great to save some money! Thanks!

So What Happened?

It sounds like all diapers are different with every baby. I have tried Luvs for the past couple of days and have really liked them! I think I will try the Parents Choice ones too. I'm so excited to save some money since my hubby is in school and we're already stretched thin! Thanks everyone!

I used Luv's on my first son and absolutely loved them. The only reason I haven't used them on my youngest son is becasue we now buy at Sam's Club in bulk, they dont offer Luv's, but the price in the amount we are getting seems a better deal than the Luv's in the smaller packages elsewhere.

Hi, Becca. Luvs worked just great with my daughter, but leaked like crazy with my son. Could be a boy/girl difference in the cut of the diaper. Give 'em a try and see how it goes!
Good luck!

Yes, I use them all the time, actually like them better than Huggies, plus the savings is great as well. I do have problems with leaking at times, but haven't had that solved with the more expensive brands myself.

I personally hated luvs with my son, -he leaked out of them left and right, but when I had some given to me for my daughter, they didn't do too bad comparably speaking. so i am not sure if its because of the boy/girl difference or what. :)

I used Luvs on all 4 of my kids. I never had any problems with them and my baby is now 10 so i'm sure they have improved since then. The only thing would be if they are allergic to them as I know some babies can only wear certain diapers. Good luck.

I think that if you use coupons for nicer diapers they are actually cheaper than using Luvs. I found that Luvs smelled bad when combined with my babies urine and they fell apart if I didn't change them often so I wasn't really saving money. I signed up for the Pampers coupons, used them with a store coupon and a double coupon, then bought them by the case and usually paid about 7 cents a diaper. Much cheaper than Luvs because they held up better, didn't fall apart, the sizes are actually bigger so you can put your baby in a smaller size, and they didn't have that smell that I had to use so many wipes to get rid of at each diaper change.

I hate the strong smell of Luvs diapers. I am very sensitve to smells and they give me headaches. I loved the White Cloud diapers from Wal-mart. But they stopped selling them. The Parents Choice diapers just never absorbed or fit well for my baby. I use Huggies now because I get a ton of coupons for Huggies.

We have found that Luvs diapers have a STRONG powdered scent, and Wal Mart, Target, or Costco brand diapers work just fine and they are even cheaper than Luvs. ;)

This is slightly off-topic, but if you're interested in saving money on diapering, you might want to consider using cloth diapers, at least part-time. They are not what they used to be! No pins, no plastic pants, no toilet dunking (ew!). Check out www.cottonbabies.com or www.greenmountaindiapers.com. or www.fuzzibunzstores.com. My favorites are Fuzzi Bunz pocket diapers. They have great comfy elastic around the waist and legs so they never blow out, wash up easily, and snap on, so they're just like a paper diaper except you don't throw them away and you can run a load of diapers while the babies nap and you read.
It seems like a lot of money to lay down up front, but it all comes back to you because they are yours forever (mine lasted through two kids from birth to toileting; I had to buy a few new ones for number 3) and you never have to rush to the store for a big package of diapers you're going to throw away. Even if you just had six or twelve, that would be enough for a day at a time so you could buy paper diapers in lesser quanitities with coupns or just less often.
Just a thought--best wishes to you and your growing family.

I have had other moms tell me Luvs leaked like crazy for them, but I have been using them and they seem to work fine. When they start to get too small (when it's time for the next size), then they do leak more often. And I guess when my baby was brand new they did leak out the back if he had a particularly big poop. But I like them. Parents Choice, on the other hand...leaked about every other time for me. Hated those. :)

I see you're already using and liking them, but I'll weigh in anyhow. Each time I tried Luvs, the soaking beads (the chemical stuff inside the diaper that soaks up the urine) came out and stuck to my babies skin. Didn't hurt them, but the thought and the extra hassle of getting it off was something I chose not to deal with. I finally went with Kirkland (when I could get them) and Pampers (always with a coupon). Good place to get all diapers: www.diapers.com

We used & still sometimes use LUVS. I like that they have a nice baby powder scent and I have never had them link. Recently, we tried the Target brand one time when we didn't have any coupons. I've found that I really like too. They don't have the nice scent of LUVS, but you get more for the price.

Becca,
I am a Huggies lover all the way. I tried several other name brands and no name brands and refused to use anything else for the past 3 years. I have a 3yo son who is potty trained and a 2yo daughter who is working on it. Finally when my daughter was 16 months old we found a lovable discounted brand they are "Mom to Moms" brand...I find them at my local safeway store. Not sure if you have a Safeway near by or you might be able to search for them on the web. Just be sure you are comparing your prices with your use. I found even when I bought cheaper diapers I was actually using more and doing more laundry because they didn't work as well. So during the night if you use 2 huggie's without leaks that is better than using 3 generics with leaks. Best of luck.

Luvs ALWAYS fell apart on me. I gave them a shot several times, usually because it was a time when I was short on cash. The insides ALWAYS fall out in them and end up all over baby's crib, body, and the floor. Messy, and if you change them super-often to keep them from falling apart, you're not really saving money because you're changing them so often. I HATE Luvs and will never EVER use them again. The best cheap diaper I ever used was White Cloud. I used to get them at WalMart, but I can't find them anymore! They were the kind I ALWAYS bought, but they disappeared from the store.

I want to second the suggestion of trying a smaller package of them to see if you like them. I LOVE them. I have two boys and I've used them on both! I also got a major deal on several cases of them for my cousins that both have a boy and a girl- and they both have loved them. One of their kids (boy) is pretty skinny and lanky and they fit just great, my boys have been on the pudgy side until one hit 2 yrs old then got skinnier- and they fit the pudgy kids just fine. My other cousin's little girl is a hefty hefty little sweet girl and they do wonders for her as well. hope this helps. :) (ps. they have since improved the shape of luvs diapers by making the part that goes around their legs nice and stretchy and hour glass shaped instead of being rectagular)

Sounds like you like your Luvs. I didn't like them mostly because of the smell-my boys didn't need to smell perfumey!
I also loved White Cloud diapers, but I've seen in a couple of posts on here that they're not selling them anymore. I dumped Parents Choice after finding more than one in each bag a few times w/broken off tabs.

Luvs is all I use, I use to use parent's choice on my other two, and every morning when they started sleeping through the night, I had to change thier sheets. With my son now, I dont have to. And you can make them fit so much better, with the bear hug fit. I personaly think you would be making a smart choice in using them.

I LOVE Luvs diapers! Honestly, they are my favorite (well, Pampers Baby Dry are probably my favorite, but we haven't used those in almost a year and Luvs is made by Pampers so they are pretty much the exact same diaper!). We used them for my almost 2 years old, and will use them for my infant once we run out of our prebaby stock up diapers (I was able to pick Huggies up CHEAP with a $5 coupon that was released in February or March... no longer available).
They fit well and we rarely get leaks... and when we go get leaks its our own darn fault. Like today... she got up from her nap and had SERIOUSLY leaked through the diaper, but she'd been wearing the thing since 8 am and we had forgotten to change her before her nap. They are super absorbant, the stretchy tabs are awesome and I actually love that they are basically plain white, except for where you stick the tabs... they don't show through anything.
They fit my active toddler better than Huggies Snug and Dry (we got frequent leg leaks with those), and even when we tried them on my breastfed infant, I was plesantly surprised as the diaper's ability to absorb the watery poopy mess and pull it away from his skin.
Get a jumbo pack and try them. I really do bet you'll like them. =)

i don't like the feeling of Luvs so i've been using Huggies since walmart stopped selling White Cloud and i like them. Parents Choice doesn't fit my skinny babies right. with the Target brand i seemed to be changing the diapers more often. but i have a friend who uses nothing but Luvs. try a small package of the Luvs and if you like them enough, no need to pay more for another brand.

We're using them on our second and love them! Our first we actually went cheaper and used the White Cloud, but our other 2 have some sensitivities. Luvs are made by the same company as Pampers, so if you like Pampers, you'll probably like Luvs. I have friends who also loved the Target brand. It's been a long time since I tried them, but we didn't like them. Like someone else said, though, it's personal preference and baby shape that seems to matter the most.

I used to buy only Pampers and Huggies, but I have been trying other brands in the last year or so. Luvs are actually very good. Also, suprisingly Walgreens brand is very soft and absorbent (I buy them on sale for $5.99). I also like the new Target brand Up & Up as well as the Up & Up wipes. They are super soft! Just experiment a little and you will find the best one for your baby! Take care, R.

Hi Becca,

I wish I would have known about them with my first child. :) I buy them at super walmart which is another savings in itself. I do like them. If you go to their website, you can a $1 coupon off! You might want to try a small pack of them first to see if you like them or not but if you don't like them, at least you can get another $1 off! Good luck! B.

"Luv" them, but I think they run a tiny bit smaller than Pampers, so if your child is on the cusp of the next size, you may need to size up sooner. Great value.

I suggest trying them. Everyone is different depending on the sex, age and output ( :) ) of their child. We started with pampers cruisers, swore by them and would not use anything else although we had tried them all. We stuck with them for about a year then we tried Luvs again since they are similar but much cheeper. We loved them and decpite what others thought we used them for a long time. Now it's on to Huggies which at first I HATED!!! I just tell people try a small bag of each to really know what works for you and your child. Some can do the cheaper diapers, some not so much.

My opinion is that the best diaper for your dollar is the generic brand from Costco or Sam's Club. They are equal in quality to Pampers and way cheaper. You get about 200 diapers in a box for around $39. When a similar question was asked about a month ago, a whole bunch of people suggested the Target brand as a good alternative. I haven't tried those but I'm thinking about it.

Hi Becca,
We tried Luvs, and hated them. They didn't fit well at all and leaked all over the place! We ended up giving the rest of the package to the daycare our daughter was going to at the time to use for the parents that "forgot" to provide diapers for their kids. But I think it will be kind of a personal thing - they might fit some people's kids and not others. We used Huggies and/or Pampers - whichever was on sale when we needed diapers. Also tried the WalMart brand and that worked fairly well. Good luck!

I used Luvs with my daughter and loved them. They were far more absorbant than Huggies and cheaper than Pampers and Huggies. I tried using them with my son and found that they irritated his skin, so I had to spend a little more and go with the Pampers which were absorbant like Luvs, but more flexible like Huggies. Try a pack and see how they work with your baby. I would highly recommend them. If they don't work for you, go with the Pampers!

I have heard many Moms over the years say that they love LUVS but I have only had bad experiences with them. They are a great deal and I was impressed by the "stretchiness" they offered. The price was right, too, especially since I had great coupons! Unfortunately, they gave my daughter's the worst rash ever. I used them a few years apart, too, so I didn't expect that to happen to two different babies. It was also during the first diaper wearing that it happened. Both times, the rash was SO bad that I it required medical attention. Guess I have sensitive bottomed babies! Would have been nice to save the money though, so it is worth trying them out. Happy diapering!

I'm not a fan of Luvs, though I know that their shelf price is cheaper. We use pampers- and not just the baby dry, but the cruisers, which are more expensive- but here's the catch. Even though we have Costco and Sam's Club memberships, I NEVER buy diapers there. They dont allow you to use coupons, and if you use coupons wisely, you can get a steal of a deal on diapers!
I buy all our diapers at Babies R Us. The huge boxes are about $30-40 a box. The often go on sale and are either marked down by about $5 a box, or they have a deal where if you buy two, you get a $10-20 gift card. Watch for the sales(stock up!!! we have about 6 boxes in storage right now) then use your coupons wisely and you can save about $10 a box. Which I've found to be about the same price as no name diapers- PLUS on pampers, they have a gifts to grow program. Every box you buy has a little sticker inside the package with a code on it. You create a membership online for free, then add your codes. The codes equal points and you redeem points for prizes. We've only payed shipping for a large chunk of the girls' christmas the last couple years, because we go through so many diapers! I think its a great brand because they value their customer and are so obliging. On a few occassions we have had the diapers break(the tabs, or the whole wing) and I call pampers to let them know- you read them a short code and they send you out TWO $10 off vouchers on your next purchase!!!! So that makes diapers about half price, when you use those! Good Luck!
