Hi all~
I am wondering if anyone knows of a good dermatologist in the Oregon City area(or closest to this area) that would be suitable to take my 3 year old girl to. She has terrible excema and her poor body is all broken out. We've already been to the ped. office and what she told us to do was use Cetaphil for lotion and body wash. That worked for a while but now she looks like one complete rash! Please if anyone knows of a good dr in the area that sees children, let me know.

Hi H., I just took my son to a dermatologist at OHSU he was a referral from our Pediatrician the Dermatologist name is Dr. Krol I had a good experience with this dr. very professional. I hope this helps. Good Luck
Our 9 month old boy (and my 13 year old daughter) both have suffered from eczema... the best advice we've been given has been from our Pediatrician at "The Children's Clinic" in Tualatin - Dr. Craft, but all of the doctor's at this clinic are great. Taking our son off different foods worked briefly, but never completely took it away: no milk, soy formula, then to Hypo-formula (expensive), changing all detergents, etc. All of this got to be a real pain in the butt!! Now we lotion him up twice a day with Cetaphil, sometimes add Aquaphor, and use vaseline on his face. If a small rash starts to develop, we add some prescription Cortizone. This has completely taken care of the problem!
By the way, my daughter has out-grown most of the eczema problems...

I am so glad to have seen your posting because I have just recently discovered an amazing remedy for my daughter's eczema! She too was covered in it and the doctor said to slather on the petroleum jelly, but that ultimately, there was nothing that could really be done! A friend of mine told me about hazelwood necklaces and ointments that had dramaticaly helped her son.
Apparently, the hazelwood (wood from a hazelnut tree) has the property of absorbing excess acid(which is the root cause of eczema) in your body when the wood is against your skin.
I was skeptical but decided to buy a necklace and give it a try. Within 2 weeks, my daughter's eczema was all but gone. All she has left are a few dry spots, but nothing like before! I have been so amazed by this product that I decided to start selling them since they are not commonly available in the US (these necklaces come from Canada) and could help so many people!
I know it's hard to believe that wearing a necklace could help you daughter's eczema that much, but when you're facing the potential of harsh meds, it's definitely worth a try, especially since they are inexpensive!

tRY TAKING HER OF OF ALL MILK AND WHEAT PRODUCTS, we did that for my neice, she hasn't had a rash for weeks now. she used to get them all over her face, back, arms, belly..everywhere. Food alergy is the cause for most of childrens problems...sad isn't it? You can heal w/ proper diet.

You might actually want to see an allergist. My son has also suffered from severe eczema since 3 months (he is 12 months now). We have been seeing Dr. DeMerell w/ Allergy, Asthma, & Dermatology Associates. He is one of the few pediatric allergists in Portland. He moves around as they have several offices. I see him at St. Vincent location but you can also see him at their Clackamas location. ###-###-####. My son is allergic to cats (we have two that we are trying to find new homes for), peanuts, eggs, & slightly allergic to milk & wheat. Eczema is normally an indicator of potential allergies & can often flare up with exposure to allergens. He also gave us a prescription for his eczema that seems to help. Good luck!
You might ask your ped for a recomendation- my primary gave me one the other day but be aware it can take MONTHS to get in to see one. My son also has excema and I found another posting on this site asking for cures to be very helpful- I am going to try the fish oil and just ordered Kevin's Cure Lotion from www.sistersky.com.
