I'm planning craft activities for my kids birthday party next week. I've been looking for inexpensive mini tote bags that can be painted and colored with markers. The cheapest places I've found are on the internet but the shipping costs are outrageous. I need 2 dozen tote bags in white or natural. Michael's and JoAnn's don't sell them in large quantities. Lake Shore Learning center is too expensive. Any local places to West Covina? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your advice! I went to a 3rd Michael's and found mini totes in a 3pk for only $1! Only problem is they only have two colors, pink and lime green. I bought six of each for now. I ordered a 12pk and some favors at Orientaltrading.com. Since my order was less than $40, I found a $10 off code on retailmenot.com so that covered shipping and a little more off.

The only problem now is that I noticed after I placed the order the expected arrival date is June 24. The party is June 20! Has anyone ordered from here? Do they really take that long?

I agree with what someone else wrote...try Oriental Trading Company online. Their website is www.orientaltrading.com (or call 800-228-2269) and it's 4 cents for shipping on any order over $40 by 6/22/09. Use the coupon code STAR.

I have bought a pack at Target. Off the top of my head, i think it was 5 bucks for 12 bags. they sell packs of bags in the gift wrap section. How big do you want the bags to be? these are gift bag size.

Hi A.,

Have you tried looking in the 99 Cent or Dollar Tree stores? Now that summer has started, there are all kinds of summer items available at really reasonable prices and I think I saw some totes. I think it's worth a try. Good luck!

Have you thought of using regular brown paper lunch bags? If you feel they need to have handles, you can use a paper punch and stick on clear hole reinforcers and thread the holes with yarn or ribbon for handles.

I know Oriental Trading Company has them and they are currently running a 4 cent shipping special for 4th of July. You might need to do an internet search for the coupon code... I think I tossed the catalog that arrived a few days ago. Also, you might call US Toys. They are like Oriental Trading Company, but they have a storefront in Garden Grove (right off of the 22 fwy). Call them before you go all the way down there. The number is ###-###-####. Good luck!
