So What Happened?

Thank you very much for the great list! We love Llama Llama and Berenstains bears as well. Some books are new to me, I am from Ukraine and not really familiar with some of the books. We go to library at least twice a week, so next time we will check them out or try amazon.com. Thank you all again!!!

Hi T., I am Ukrainian, born in the US, but 100% Ukrainian. If you want English books, I loved the Boynton books. I think the author is Sara Boynton. They are the thick books so they can't be destroyed, and the stories are adorable and rhyme. I eneded up memorizing the stories as I read them. There is a whole series of them. Please feel free to PM me if you should need any help with anything. Cool to find another Ukrainian.

Love the Llama Llama books. There about 4 of them. They rhyme and are age appropriate (a couple teach patience and one is for going to preschool). My 3 1/2 y.o. daughter loves them too.

She also likes Green Eggs and Ham (teaching to try new foods and excellent rhyming words).

If You Take a Mouse to the Movies (Give a Mouse a Cookie). Very fun and logical sequencing.

Try www.scholastic.com They are the people with the book orders at school. Super website to be used by parents and very inexpensive books.

Good for you for reading to your child! It won't be long and she'll be reading to you. :)

The Franklin the Turtle books are great and there are a ton of them. I have a 3 yr old daughter and she can't get enough of them. They are really cute and Franklin is always learning a lesson at the end of the book. He also has a tv show that is on everyday on Nick Jr.

Anything by Mo Willems. He wrote the Pigeon books (Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!), the Elephant and Piggie series, and the Knuffle Bunny books. His books are great for little ones and they are hilarious! My kids still love them even though they are old enough for chapter books.

Look for the Ladybug Girl books. They are really cute and a boy might like them, too, even though they are about a girl.

my 3 yo likes:
-VeggieTales "God Made you Special"
- "Buddy Unchained" (about a dog who's neglected, but is adopted by a loving family)
- "Who is Coming to Our House?" by Joseph Slate (about Mary&Joseph. It has barn animals in it. I do different voices for each animal. My son loves it).
- "His Mighty Warrior" by Sheri Rose Shepherd. (Advanced book, but one you can read to your son each night. Each page is a letter to God, then God's letter back in response. Sheri writes one for girls too, don't remember the name.

I'm not sure if you're a Costco member, but we've been thrilled with all of the books from there, from infant to pre-school. We've been introduced to new types, new authors, etc. I wish I could think of some of the titles/authors . . . . there was a set of six or seven books about tractors, farming, gardens, fruits/veggies that have been a big hit.

If you're not a member, but know a member, ask them for their monthly Costco newsletter, which always previews their kids' books out that month. Good luck!
