Has anyone had good luck with Sittercity? It seems reasonable but I don't really want to cough up the $ unless it's worth it... We're only looking for evening/weekend occasional babysitting.
Thanks ladies - I went ahead and joined up and posted my job. I've already got one response back, so I'm optimistic that I'll be able to find someone we can trust for this weekend (and hopefully the future in general).
I agree it's great. We love our sitter. I looked through profiles to find her though. Then I met with a few and definitely ran a background check. The few times I've posted jobs, I've gotten so many responses from people that wanted to be our nanny or other things that were not related to our post of a Friday night sitter. I guess it depends on how much time you have to go through irrelevant emails. I hope you find what you're looking for!
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. So worth it. Highly recommend posting your job and letting candidates respond to you. I got a ton of responses for occasional sitting jobs when I did that. Read their entire profile before you respond-- you may be able to rule some people out that way. I also invited candidates to meet with me and the kids before I selected anyone for a job. And of course make sure you check references and run a background check on anyone you plan to call for a job...the candidates are not pre-screened. You can buy a basic background check on the site for $10. Good luck!

I have used the website for two years now. Though this site I met a family in 2005 and I have worked for them since then.
So it is a good site not only for families but also for sitters.
I recommend it. ;-)
I have used it a few times with great success. I know others who have also had positive experiences.
