An Infant Walker for My Baby Girl

I am interested in getting a walker for my little girl who is almost a year old. I have done some looking but want something thats weighted correctly (not a baby stroller since she is just learning to walk-that can be for after she learns how). A friend recommended educo but I looked it up and its for ages 3+. I feel like many have been recalled or are dangerous. Any suggestions mama's? Thanks!

What can I do next?

Instead of using a walker, why don't you get her a push toy or walk-behind? The walkers aren't all that great because they allow the baby to rest their hips and chest on the apparatus while they walk. This is problematic because they're not developing the core muscles/strength necessary to stand on their own and eventually walk.

Here is an example of a great "stride to ride" toy:

Walkers are very dangerous. If you want to encourage her to walk get her a sturdy push toy that can later be used as a ride on toy. Many babies have gotten hurt falling down stairs in a walker they give a false sense of security and really don't help with walking since your child is supported there is no balancing and developing strength when using a walker.

We have this Fisher-Price one: http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2341&e=detail&...
My 14 month old (who walked at 9mths) still loves it! Its weighted correctly and also turns into something they can ride on down the road.
If you want to go super high-end, I'd recommend this one: http://www.amazon.com/Haba-1646-Walker-Wagon/dp/B0002HYDPY
They don't get anymore solid than this baby. Its so awesome! Maybe you can find a used one?!

Good luck!

From all the research and doctors that I've spoken to, a walker is highly NOT recommended. First of all, they are not using the muscles they need to walk, while "sitting" in the stroller. My daughter, who took her first steps at 10 months old, never used a walker. We did buy her a push toy that she can learn to push and walk (we bought a Fisher Price Lion that belts out a tune when you press his nose and can later be used as a ride-on toy). Also helped was the activity tables that has various activities on all four sides (made by Fisher Price and VTech) which motivated her to walk to all four sides to play. Hope that helps!

We got a push toy for our son and it worked great he really got the concept of walking from it and it was fun for him. We got it at toys r us for like 20 bucks it was like a little mail cart with pretend mail in it. I didn't feel safe using a walker.

my mom bought my daughter the fisher price walker that looks like a doll stroller and she loves it. She never fell over using and now that she is walking, she still uses it. I would get that one- I also saw another fisher price one that looked like a shopping cart- it was really cute and practical also.

Don't get a sit -in walker -they're very dangerous! Instead, there are many options of "push" walker toys from toy bubble mowers to V-Tech pushers that make all sorts of noise to simple wooden things. Cruisers and beginning walkers LOVE to push!

Well I'm not sure if you want the sitting walker or the pushing walker but I got my son the "Hasbro Playskool baby toddler walker ride on toy" This walker is a 2 in 1. You can push it or adjust it to where the baby can sit on it. I think its cute because they have it in blue and pink and is priced pretty good. I got mine at Walmart but you can get it at Target or Babies R Us.
My son started walking at 9 months and is 18 months now and still uses this walker.
*Good Luck on your choice!

Your daughter is too old for an infant walker and they are extremely dangerous. If you mean a push toy that they walk behind when they push, that's another story entirely. I'm sure that Fisher Price and Playskool make them, and you might want to check out Consumer Reports.
