I have heard of this after an epidural or spinal but check with the doctor to get a definite diagnosis. I believe something similar happened to a friend and it was treatable.

I've never heard of an air pocket being left but there is a possibility you have what is called a spinal headache. This is from either an epidural or a spinal block (before your c section). What happens is the hole the needle made in your spine doesn't close up all the way and spinal fluid leaks out of the hole. This causes a decrease in the spinal fluid around the brain, causing a headache. See if the headache goes completely away when you lay down (flat on your back; no pillow). If it does, you probably have a spinal headache and will need a blood patch done to fix it. I've had a spinal headache and a blood patch done, which cured me. A spinal headache is the worst kind to have. Also, until you get the blood patch done, drink lots of fluids and lots of caffeine. See if that helps the pain. Any ER will be able to diagnose you and send you to day surgery for the blood patch. Good luck.

Call your doctor ASAP. Go to an urgent care or ER if you have to. Don't take chances with something where your spine is involved. Hope you feel better soon!

It is possible to have headaches after a spinal or epidural if some fluid leaks out or they puncture the area incorrectly. To clarify this is NOT air in your spine, just less fluid than usual. However typically this problem goes away in a few weeks and usually they are fine with you are laying down and the headache comes on if you sit or stand. Doesn't sound like that is the issue for you.

You may be having migraines related to hormonal transtion after pregnancy. I would call your doc or midwife and let them know exactly what is going on.

Find a good chiropractor!! You'll be so H A P P Y you did!! I would take the other's advice as well and mention it to your doc. but your Chiro will more likely know exaclty what it is.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Please don't see a chiropractor until you have had your Dr. check this out. Most likely cause is a leak from the epidural and a chiropractor can't fix that and might make it worse. If your Dr. can't find anything wrong, then try the chiropractor. Good luck and feel better!

I urge you to call your doctor and ask this question. Air in your spinal column is definitely a specialized medical condition.

I also urge you, if you haven't already, to ask your doctor about the headaches. There can be many causes and there are treatments. You deserve and actually need to be pain free so that you can feel good about taking care of your baby.

You need to speak to your doctor. Prolonged headaches after an epidural or spinal can be a sign of significant complications. Probably not air in your spine, but leakage of spinal fluid or an infection (both of which are not too uncommon complications) can cause these headaches. Sometimes a small procedure (blood patch) can be done if there is fluid leakage and will resolve the headaches.
Good luck!
