8 Years Old and Wants a Party at Jungle Java, Is He Too Old?

My son is about to turn 8 and recently we took him to a new jungle java that opened up by our house. I think it is cool place, but he was definately one of the older kids there. Now he wants his birthday party there and I would normally not be concerned, but I've noticed that a lot of his friends think everyone younger than them are "little" and "lame". It seems that a lot of his second grade friends feel that they are so grown up and cool! I think this is funny and part of life, but I don't want my son to be made fun of if he has his birthday party there and there are a lot of little ones around. I'm concerned he'll be teased if he has his birthday there. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Nickie

I think you are lucky that your son doesn't seem to be worried about what is "cool." I will bet he is really smart and will be a leader some day. My son went to a b-day party for one of his classmates that was at a bounce/play place...they are 12. The whole group had a blast. Let him pick.

I agree with Lucia. It's his birthday, let him pick the place! I bet once the other kids are there, they will loosen up and have a blast. Happy b-day to your son!

I think kids will have fun where evert the party is. Now having said that, I think he is on the older side for Jungle Java. I personally would throw out some other ideas like Pump it Up, Maybe an Indoor Soccer place (I live in canton and they have a cool one that does b-day party's) Glo Golf/Laser Tag or Bowling to see if there's ANY chance he might want to change his mind :) Bottom line, as long as he has fun, that's what's important.

My thoughts are kids are going to be kids when put in a place made for kids! His friends will get there and end up acting the age that they are and enjoying themselves. Yes, many of them want to be "cool" but when given the opportunity to play they will take it. It's your son's birthday, let him pick the place where he wants to celebrate and enjoy!
