I have a very good friend that is turning 30 years old and there is a surprise birthday party and I have no idea what to get her. I can't spend alot of money, but I want it to be a unique gift. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Movie passes and offer to babysit (if she has kids). Or a movie pack with a Blockbuster gift card and a bucket of popcorn, m&m's, etc. A mall gift card or a visa gift card. I know I would enjoy any of these and I am 31!

I think a wonderful gift for someone her age (my age also) would be spa/health and beauty gifts. You could get her a huge basket filled with ARBONNE samples (you can usually buy a ton of ARBONNE on ebay at a great price, you just have to make sure it is fresh). Also, add in some candles, bath beads, and a good cleanser and lotion (from ARBONNE), and you are set! I would love it if someone did that for me!

One of my favorites gifts was a basket filled with all of my girlfriends fav things she was sharing with me....ie ARBONNE lotion and eye cream, organic olive oil, a journal, her fav cookies (organic and yummy), and some other food items. It was such a unique and wonderful personalized gift!

I do not sell ARBONNE, but I am sure you could get into contact with someone who does. I use the products and firmly believe they are so wonderful. Giving someone the gift of healthy skin is such a great idea!

Also, you could get her a massage and/or manicure pedicure. Anything to pamper her is great!

Best wishes!

I received & liked a card that had a 'then & now theme'. The price of a house 30 years ago was...
The price of a gallon of milk 30 years ago was...
The popular TV shows 30 years ago...

I think Hallmark sells them.

Also, what about a photo of the two of you in a nice frame or a CD of music that was popular in 1979? That would be alot of fun.

Recently, I've seen a few people create those bound, personalized, hard covered photo albums. You can make them through Ritz camera or various places. They make a great personalized gift.

Just upload / scan photos and the book can be created quickly. Sometimes Ritz offers specials on these too. They are reasonably priced and so professional. My husband just received one as a gift. Very cool! There are different sized books that you can pick out. Other places, like the Apple Store and through Comcast, offers this service too.

Enjoy.

What about a nice picture frame, gift cert. for a manicure or pedicure or offer to take her out to dinner sometime soon (remember those "coupons" we used to make for our Moms when we were kids?).

Christy,
The best gift my dh got when he turned 30 was a nice piece of prime rib because he's "in the prime of his life" It was a nice size for inviting another couple for dinner.

I've done a variation on this for our dads who are difficult to find gifts, as are most people once they reach a certain age (they need it they get it for themselves). I've gone to a nice butcher and got some nice fillets (or other great cut) & and maybe a bottle of wine. The steaks end up being much cheaper than you think, more than you'd spend for a family dinner but all together they cost less than eating out and ordering the same thing. They like this because really, having good steaks at home rocks, if you add a bottle of red wine & you're set, or leave it out if budget is an issue. But they'll be different and tasty. You slip it in their fridge or freezer when you arrive, then at gift time give them a note telling them where to find it.

Have fun!
