Hi. I'm looking to hold my son's 1st birthday party in mid August. I'm hoping to have it at a park. I"m looking for picnic tables that are close to the play area. It would be great if there were grills. There will be lots of toddlers there in the age of 2 - 4 so I am looking for something that will be fun for them mostly as my 1 year old will most likely not care :) Any recommendations in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo beach, El Segundo and Torrance would be great. Polliwog park in Manhattan Beach is great for birthdays. You can reserve space up by the new play area. I did my daughter's 2nd birthday at Acacia pool and park in El Segundo.
Valley Park in Hermosa Beach - some tables you can reserve for a small fee through Parks and Rec dept are right next to play structures. Over on the other side is an area that has a Fire Pit - but BBQs are gone now. BBQs at South Park also in Hermosa - but the play area is for smaller tots and at the other end from the BBQs. Polliwog is also really nice - have to reserve thru city of Manhattan Beach and it fills up fast (I think up to 2 months ahead and residents have priority) but there are no BBQ pits. Lots of smaller parks - like Fort Lots of Fun in Hermosa (6th and Prospect) are enclosed areas perfect for small toddlers - but no bathroom or BBQs - just a great view of the ocean and it is nice and cool there on hot summer days. 2 tables to set up at - and no need to make a reservation. That would be my recommendation if people are OK with walking a block or two down to PCH to find a bathroom. I've had parties at all of them over the years for my now 6-year old - all have their advantages and disadvantages but overall - just a nice day in the park. Have fun!
Lago Sego Park at Ocean Ave in South Torrance. Clean picnic tables and next to playground.
Recreation Park in El Segundo is a huge park with both a toddler and older children's playground. There is also plenty of green grassy area and many tables. It's a great place for a birthday party. Polliwog is also great (I see someone else mentioned that as well). Lagoon Park in Playa del Rey is awesome too.
Wilson park in Torrance on Crenshaw just south of Del Amo every nice big park with tables near the play area and they have grills :) good luck!
Paradise Park in West Torrance right next to Anza Elementary school would be perfect for what you're talking about. The have grills, picnic tables and lots of stuff for the kiddos to play on. There's also a really large grassy area for the kids to run on. It's near the corner of Torrance Blvd and Anza. I think the actual corner is Lee and Ellinwood.
Wilson Park in Torrance (Crenshaw, just north of Sepulveda).
I think you can even make a reservation, and if you're having the party on the weekend, I'd definitely make a reservation, that place gets packed.
